Week three of the H5 Beta is up. DMR starts on the Strongholds Gametype( think Domination) on Pegasus

It's as simple as this: 343 is sacrificing Halo's unique qualities & gameplay in order to try to capture as many potential players as possible.

They saw Reach do poorly and decided to add a few features that other FPS games had to try and reach a new market of people who would want to play Halo.

When that didn't work (H4), the next Genius move was to take that to the maximum(because going further and further in the direction of a failure just makes perfect sense) and just flat out copy elements from every other large scale FPS on the market in hopes that fans of said franchises comprised of a lot of people who have not played Halo extensively or haven’t played it at all would gravitate toward it because of those features (“Every modern shooter has sprint we need to have Sprint”. "Look, we added a Destiny-like ground-pound; therefore, Destiny fans will play Halo 5!" “(Insert mechanic here) works in that game, surely it can work in Halo)

This game will be a colossal failure, why would anyone want six games on the market that play the same way. They play different FPS games for different gameplay & mechanics by turning Halo into some odd Mish-Mash monster of these other Franchises, and what happens is that Halo loses its appeal of and its identity, along with losing unique gameplay that differentiated it from the monotony of generic "modern FPS" games out there already.

And for all the “Halo needs to evolve folks” (which it was doing just fine evolving prior to this foray into whatever 343 wants to call this and if you really want to discuss it I can), just look at a game like Counter Strike. Counter Strike has been the same game from the get-go, no core mechanics have changed yet its still going. The games as popular as it is because it's NOT Call of Duty, Halo, or Destiny. Just like the reason Halo WAS popular is because it wasn't Counter Strike, Call of Duty, or Quake. They understand that and wont be doing anything to mess that up.

It really and truly is baffling and frustrating to me that people with advanced degrees and who claim to understand video game design(343 Industries) simply cannot understand this and WILL NOT listen to this reason & logic.

You don’t have to look any further than the Breakout gametype that 343 is pushing as the next big thing for Halo. 343 is pushing a gametype that has no shields, one-hit melee, and one grenade kills(SOUND FAMILIAR???). They are stepping further and further into that generic modern shooter market to see the feedback, but from what we've seen, they're going to ignore the feedback and do what they want anyway, because even when three different Halo communities including one that they asked themselves say that Sprint in Halo is bad, they just go ahead and bring Sprint back along with attempts to balance it as if such a thing is possible.

Halo will die from a loss of identity, and a lack of standardized, cohesive mechanics. Never before have I seen such a popular, massive franchise completely dismantle itself and resort to having so many vastly different variations of itself without having changed genre or a Super Mario 64/ Legend of Zelda thing where traditionally 2D games made the leap to 3D

Makes you wonder: if copying the most popular FPS game begets success, why didn't Call of Duty adopt shields? Why didn't it adopt scoping in place of ADS? Why didn't it adopt all the unique features of Halo 2 and Halo 3 when they were the top games on XBL for X amount of years?

So what, copying features of the most popular franchise only applies to Halo?

343 is making a huge mistake with this franchise, and not only do they not see it, they actually think they're doing right by it. Halo development continues to be feature-based, rather than gameplay-based, and the opinions and responses represented by some 343 staff members on social media have only proven that mindset further.

Franchise has been dying since around 2012 and they are not helping it, they are making it worse. But when this fails and the next game fails maybe then they’ll look around and wonder where they went wrong. They’re idiots.

You need a podium bro lol, good points, I agree but it's a pointless battle, reason why I don't speak much on it. Cash is king, they selling the Halo name not the brand. They can guarantee more sales by being more 'competitive' with popular FPS (COD) by playing more similar compared to building around the Halo gameplay style. I totally understand the frustration, I like the difference with franchise, that's why I play COD and BF they are FPS but totally different feels, Halo now just mixes in better with those titles instead of standing out and to the average consumer that's all they need to want to play.

The thing is, corporate america and the consumer view a game failing as two different things.

343 sold over 9million copies of halo 4... you really think they feel like they're losing?

Halo MCC has sold almost 2m... not a huge number but dang... for a cash grab.. not horrible.

Halo 5 ALREADY has 150k pre-orders and we barely got a release schedule around 3 weeks ago.... Im sure once digital pre-order hit the number will soar extremely high.

It wouldn't surprise me if halo 5 moved more pre-orders than halo mcc does total copies.

M$ doesn't give a flying f*** about what you or any of the other old die hard halo loyalists think halo should be. They ONLY care about $$$ and what will sell.

I'm pretty much over it. Look how halo got the most votes in this thread. Now turn your Xbox on and see how many NT people are playing it

Halo isn't going to fail dude. Please. Titanfall sold around 2.5 million copies on the Xbox with a small userbase. Killzone sold over 2 million copies. MCC is approaching 2 million or so. This is the most popular genre and its an exclusive game.

For every purist that complains about the game, most of them will still buy the game and complain about it

OF COURSE halo won't fail from a financial stand point, but does that matter to US???? Master patch collection sold great and released completely BROKEN. The game it STILL broken. The game is STILL a success from a financial standpoint

We're talking about halo but the logic is relevant to entire gaming industry. Why do companies release remakes and sequels more than something orginal? It's because they sell by name alone and not quality. This ADD generation doesn't care because in a month the new "it" game is on its way out anyway

Oh yeah I know, its all pretty much a wash at this point. Just fix MCC and I'm good. I havent said much about it since day one of the beta cause once I got to play it I knew what it was.

Like I said earlier, this game was never measured by sales amongst the community. I'm sure its going to do crazy numbers, but Halo was always judged by player retention and competitive merit. This game isnt gonna have it.

I was just answering iYens question though, I'm no longer on a crusade against this game. I'm gonna fill out my Beta feedback form when I get it and move about my Business. They've already made it clear only selective feedback is going to be taken into consideration I'm not about to stress out over it.

True good points. They dont even make the right remakes imo. Its the s.o.s.

Turn this into halo talk thread smh

90% of your posts in here are about Destiny and that has a thread of its own. I would gladly take this to the Halo thread if people wanted me to. I'm just here to inform people of Halo info when it drops and then comment on it from time to time.

You're 100% trolling or a very young gamer if you think destiny is complete.

Destiny is the biggest offender last year of releasing an incomplete game that is pieced together via DLC.

The biggest crime the gaming industry is clinging to outside of releasing a fundamentally broken game.

Damb! Realized how long it's been since I turned on mcc :smh:

Totally forgot they were gonna add ranked playlist for classic h2 and 3.. Please tell me they've already added those.

No they have not. The next MCC patch isnt coming out until the week that the H5 Beta ends (WHAT A COINCIDENCE!). It might have the ranks within it is what we were told.

Complete game meaning I can fire it up and play all my game modes flawlessly. Can you say that about halo but you guys keep hoping and pray that p.o.s. works. Every game for the last 5 or 6 years been dlc this dlc that thats the way it is deal with it. Im not trying to defend any game or game company but its mighty funny I see post like this but you guys defend a broke patched up and **** broke p.o.s.

*edit* btw destiny is a mmo no matter if bungie wants to admit it or not.
