I pretty much still use my xbox 360 every day.

Although when titanfall comes out I expect it to start collecting dust.

I just don't have room for both systems.

I play at a desk with my monitor. Thinking about picking up a shelf thing so I can put that on my desk and have the 360 and One there.

Is 2K even playable anymore? It either stays on a black screen, doesn't load the official rosters or gives me invisible players. Tried for like 30 min to run a game and finally gave up :smh

i also have fios with about 80mbps and i can find games. the servers are ****** though

2k servers be on some other ****

Next Friday can't come fast enough I need titanfall in my life. I also need to get pvz when it drops to hold me over til titanfall.. Might have to move my xbox back upstairs into my bedroom I moved it down cause I was lagging like hell then just found iout it was dew dew 2k servers

got a question:

Last night I was playing AC IV, and some message popped up on the bottom of the screen which I didn't get a good look at

It wasn't an invite, but I think it said something about one of my friends suggesting a game to me?
I think it was recommending playing NBA2K
I never heard of this function, and I can't find any evidence of it in my friends feed. Does anyone know what the heck Im talking about?

Amazon acquires Double Helix (Killer Instinct, Strider)

Amazon has acquired a gaming studio called Double Helix Games, TechCrunch has learned, and Amazon now confirms. The deal was for both talent and IP, we understand. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The Irvine, California-based company, founded in 2007 through the merger of two well-known game development shops, The Collective, Inc. and Shiny Entertainment, today employs 75 people who will now become Amazon employees and will continue to operate out of their Orange County home.

News of the deal leaked due to an invitation to joint recruiting event from Amazon and Double Helix Games taking place in L.A. on February 13th. The acquisition announcement was planned to take place at that time, most likely.

Amazon has provided TechCrunch with the following statement regarding the deal:

“Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovate games for customers.”

The Double Helix deal may fuel to the recent rumors that Amazon is preparing to release its own gaming console in the coming months. Last week, the video game industry blog VG247.com reported that Amazon is planning to launch an Android-powered “dedicated games and entertainment device this year priced below $300… [that] will compete directly with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.” Buzz about an Amazon console has been around for a while: This past summer, the rumor was that the company was planning to debut a Qualcomm-based console system. Amazon declined to comment on the console speculation when reached today.

February 11 system updates

On February 11, the first update will be delivered to customers who sign into their Xbox One.  It features many new improvements – including lots of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for Xbox One, several new features we believe Xbox fans will love, stability and product updates to improve the customer experience, and continuous improvements to the quality of Kinect voice so commands become more fluid and responsive over time.  While we won’t be going into all of the details of the product updates today, we will be sharing more information soon.

Some of the features you can expect to see on February 11 include:

  • The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load.
  • The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller.
  • And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.

These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks. We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love.

March 4 system updates – countdown to “Titanfall”

On March 4, in advance of what is expected to be the biggest game launch of the year, we will be delivering another system update to prepare your Xbox One for “Titanfall.”  This update will contain  many new features and improvements, most significantly to our party and multiplayer systems.  Available on March 11, “Titanfall” is a team-based online multiplayer game that showcases the power of Xbox Live, and we will be shipping a new party and multiplayer system that will help make “Titanfall” the must-have game for this generation.

This post is the first of many announcements and sneak peeks at features in the system updates. We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many new features that will make Xbox One even better. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to share more information in the coming weeks.

With Amazon purchasing Double Helix Microsoft released this statement.
Update: In a statement, a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon that Microsoft Studios will be working with a "new development partner" on Killer Instinct for Xbox One.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Double Helix and wish them success in their next endeavor," a Microsoft spokesperson said. "We want all of our loyal fans to know that the Killer Instinct team at Microsoft is not changing and that the franchise will remain with Microsoft Studios. We remain dedicated to delivering a great experience and plan to announce our new development partner soon. We're excited about the future of this popular franchise."

So, I know this isn't the place. But you guys seem to be pretty knowledgeable. I haven't owned a console in about 5 years. I'm bored and looking to do some light gaming again, and looking at buying an Xbox 360(used).

What purpose do the gigs(4GB, 320GB etc. play into the equation? Is it just the convenience of saving the game discs to the HDD? All of my media is streamed, so none of that would need to be saved to the HDD itself.

In essense, should I just purchase the most inexpensive Xbox I can find? or is there a "best" version to look for.

Edit: also is the RROD still a huge issue, or was that fixed in newer models?

Mmm KI is doing extremely well , MS owns the IP and with Double Helix being up for sale MS decided not to match the offer that Amazon put out. MS owns RARE so I see them trying to contract some of the original developers along with the guys from Double Helix that will stay with MS. After Fulgore and the single player is released that is the end of Double Helix devoping KI. The new developer is gonna be taking over season 2 and so on. Double Helix does not own anything KI related their future is making tablet games for Amazons underpowered console that'll release later this year.

Well, that's pretty much the end of KI. I think the game is great but I'm not into playing ki on the kindle :smh:

Yeah, changes in production team, meaning anything can happen. You mad?
Bruh MS OWNS THE KILLER INSTINCT IP JUST LIKE THEY OWN THE HALO IP. DOUBLE HELIX CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER KI JUST LIKE BUNGIE CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER HALO

Nah im not mad just a little annoyed by this cold weather and snow , cant wait until the temperatures warm up.
