NFL Week 1 In Review...

just give him a few more years....

The thing is, will Gronk himself even be able to give us a few more years :nerd: ??

i think so. i think him getting a tag as being "injury prone" isn't really warranted. he's not straining ligaments or groins. he broke an arm and missed games last year. and then he missed one game (the superbowl) the year before because of that high ankle sprain or whatever. i think it's early to say he's always going to have injuries. really it's been two injuries, neither of which has been recurring.

the back issue is interesting. will it be a nagging thing, or are we past it? time will tell i guess...

His back was injured in college tho. That's where the "prone" comes from. He didn't even work in the combine, and he missed games in college the year before that as well. (not sure what that injury was)

And you aren't sure why he's labeld "prone"?

I'm rooting for Gronk to come back strong but those back problems are no joke.

He's probably the only player on the Pats I can root for.

in fairness to him, when you say he was on a "nice pace" i'd say he was on a record setting pace.
Yeah he was, but again in all fairness to the original point of him being labeled or possibly being labeled THE greatest of all-time I wouldn't say he was there or quite knocking on the door just yet.  For me personally, I don't think his run was long enough, that's why I said he was on a "nice pace".

Gronk was putting up GOAT numbers and when u watch him play healthy he literally looks unstoppable and he catches everything.

Unfortunately, he appears to be made of the most delicate glass.

Between throwing a bunch of money at him and A-Her, an neither of these dudes being on the field, all i can do is SMH and wonder what could have been ; the greatest TE combo to ever do it.

gronk x hernandez had so much potential |I

as for gronk, hopefully when he gets back he can remain healthy because he can continue to do damage on the field for years to come.

Shannon Sharpe is one of my personal favorites, but Tony Gonzalez is the clear best TE in NFL history. Injuries hampered Gates. Gronk and Jimmy have a chance to challenge my argument, but it will take many more years of elite football.

13 Pro Bowl appearances. 6-time first team All-Pro. Over 1,200 receptions and 100 TD's.

Still producing effectively, near the top at his position at the age of 37.

At least 59 receptions in every season Gonzo has played, except for his rookie campaign. That's 15 years of consistency with roughly 60 or more hauls.

had to stay away from all the charger talk that went on in here :smh:

bolt fans put it all on AJ and the spanos family and just dont think about it

the personality of the team really shifted when marty was canned.

dont care if theyre trash this year, just happy to have a fresh start

prime gates >> prime gonzo

all time- gonzales >> gates

I still have hope for Phil Rivers. A change of scenery could help.

Tampa? Cleveland?

I know this will sound crazy, but I still prefer Rivers to Flacco, Dalton, Bradford.

Jennings, CP, Rudolph would eat.

Adding Rivers and improving the secondary, I might take Minny over Chicago and Detroit.

I like that Greenway is (or was) well-rounded. Sound tackler, can cover (force INT's), get after the QB when necessary.

A player like Tree would have fit well in the middle.

Early feedback from Minnesota on CP, X, Floyd?

tony gonzalez is the best TE to ever play in the NFL, and still doing it. And he produced though all those rough years in KC.

CP didn't get nearly enough touches in week 1, but the two where he had a chance (one KR and quick pass) he definitely showed that big play potential. Two shoe-string tackles away from big plays. Sounds like they're incorporating more into the offense this week. It's a no-brainer to me, but whatever.

I thought X did well. Calvin didn't really go off the way we're accustomed to seeing and I love the physicality Rhodes brings. He had a boneheaded penalty on a crucial 3rd down though that prolong Detroits drive. I guess we can chalk that up to the learning curve of adjusting to the NFL game. He should keep getting better though.

Floyd played lots of snaps (44 I believe) and provided some decent rush. Nothing of note as far as sacks or anything, but he'll get there.

I agree. And I realllllyyyy wish that place was Minnesota.

+1

i stil think rivers can shine behind a solid o-line. it was only 2010 when he led the league in passing with 4700yds on 66% with 30tds to 13 picks. and that was the year he threw to 17 different recievers when all of the bolts weapons missed significant time that year. hes just probably the least mobile qb ever and hasnt had decent protection the last few years. granted, his decision making has been questionable at times

would hate to see him go but theres not much he can do in san diego anymore. hes good for a couple extra Ws and alot of gif material  (if he wasnt a charger i would probably hate him)

i would be happy if the chargers played consistent football for a full 60 minutes and a full season

ask me again closer to the trade deadline. mccoy and telesco deserve more than 1 game to show what theyre trying to do. but right now i believe in the long run, its better for both parties to move him.
