NFL Week 1 In Review...

Hold up, I know this is me being lazy and not going back through this thread but I was watching my girl Serena win her 17th grand slam during the 49ers game. Was there some controversy I missed? anyone care to just sum it up in a few sentences? I'm completely lost right now.

.
This wouldn't be an issue if clay Matthews doesn't commit a stupid penalty and put it in the refs hands. Refs definitely blew it though
That's all I got to about that play. Clay goofed and that lead to the ref screwing up.
Staley didn't goof?

"Who cares about the rules, what Clay did was mean. "
Like I said earlier, if Clay doesn't make that bonehead play FIRST, there would be no chain of events thereafter.  Don't blame the refs or a bad call for losing the game or anything of the sort (not saying you specifically per se), blame Clay Matthews.  Clay Matthews wanted to do things his way and it backfired on him.

can we get a GIF of those golden locks flying through the air as clay took down kap? glad kap was fine after, but i thought the play looks hilarious on replay. was like a wrestling move from monday night raw

This argument is dead but you're going about it the wrong way.

If rules were as described on the broadcast then it shoulda been 4th and 2.  I can acknowledge that Clay did something dumb but at the time the outcome should have been 4th and 2 as described.

How many times have there been offsetting penalties with similar circumstances... I'm sure Staley still could have been flagged but this is the NFL's way of not taking responsibility for giving a free down to the 9ers.

I'm speculating of course but seems fishy and not one of yall in here were screaming at the TV yesterday mad that Staley caught a flag too.

I'm more worried about Casey Hayward being out a full month than I am about losing week 1 to the best team on our schedule.

Because of ONE play where he didn't target knee's or hurt anybody? shaqpointandlaugh.gif

Sounds like you're just arguing just to argue now son. This ain't like last year when the refs screwed ya'll in Seattle.

Speaking of coaches...how safe do you feel Coughlin is? Assuming the Giants miss the playoffs again this year, do you think he'll be back?

Partially true first sentence, but Deuce tryna say Clay did a bad thing so after that nothing matters is annoying so I'll argue against that... Then dude trying to say Clay is dirtier than Suh.

And yea we got ***-rammed by the zebras last year and this doesn't even compare.

LIS, I'm not mad about the play or even the game.  Its week 1 and 49ers are the best team on the Packers schedule and lost by 6 after a last minute FG.

*DEAD* @ matthews being a dirty player

tom coughlin is about as safe a coach as there is in the NFL right now...deservedly so

Don't start that "Is Tom Coughlin going to get fired" stuff. I'm not trying to see the Giants go on another Superbowl run

that wasn't what i was implying. what i meant was, when clay committed his penalty he put the play in the refs hands. it wasn't an error that should have been made, but it happened, and would not have happened had clay not lost his mind

as far as the penalties were called on the field, it should have been 4th and 2. by the letter of the law, you were wronged. it could have been avoided is all i'm saying. refs blow calls all the time, this isn't anything new.

Reggie Bush, it's going to be a fun season

Calvin Johnson, should have had 2 TDs and about 50 more yards receiving, still don't understand how that first one wasn't a TD

Lions D Line was dominant yesterday, it's what I expected with all the money and picks that went into it

For a O Line with 3 new starters, played really well, Reiff was especially impressive against Allen for the most part

Suh, your still my dude but there is no excuse for that, get your **** together, you went through all of last season without a personal foul, no need to start this crap again

He has at least another year after this.

Kevin Kilbride needs to go.

Good point about Kilbride.

I had this conversation with a friend yesterday...and dude was like, "if the Giants miss the playoffs, they're going to fire Coughlin." Stop it. Not after two superbowl victories in 5 years.

You really have to filter your football conversations...some people don't know ****. /elitist rant

My God, Troy Polamalu is such a beast. I could've sworn he did something similar a couple years back where he jumped over everyone to get to the ball carrier.

seahawks better fix their offensive line :smh:
if geno smith plays like sanchez his rookie year (doesn't pass much, doesnt turn it over all the time) i think they could be 8-8
terrell pryor leads the league in rushing :x

Steelers offense is going to have problems all year long regardless of who's coaching them. Antonio Brown is a #2, Sanders is a decent #3 but they have no #1 and no one behind them and no RB for a few more weeks. Their line sucks as well and they need a young pass catching tight end.

He has done it to the Ravens as well

And that move was a boneheaded move by Clay but I don't see him as dirty

i hate that it had to be him 'cause he's such a meathead jock bro, but kaepernick is the best qb in the league. easy

cowboys fans really feeling themselves after barely winning that garbage game the giants put on display last night, but that's to be expected from perennial losers

herman edwards has moved up a few spots to becoming one of the top three most annoying football "analysts"
