NFL Week 1 In Review...

player shouldve known better . the same argument can be made AGAINST the player -- how in that spot are you dumb enough to shove him when hes clearly going out of bounds ? why even chance it given how strict the refs have become with unnecessary roughness ?

Exactly. I've been having this argument with my friend (Giants fan) who thinks it was the softest call. Sure, it may be soft, but it's the call that is going to be called regardless how weak/rough the shove is.

He tells me he wouldn't flip out if that was Eli in Geno's position. Yeah right . I know my friend, he'd be calling for David's head.

Bottom line - don't do something that stupid where the ref has to ultimately make a call that will decide the game. It was about as boneheaded of a play that happened on opening weekend. Yes, there were some other bad ones...but David's lack of awareness DIRECTLY led to the Bucs losing.

It was a dumb push but I just don't personally think it was enough for a ref to cost a team a game over.

I will admit that our offense looked completely out of sync for a major portion of the game just how they looked in preseason and why I predicted before this game that we would lose.

The Jets are not "a team full of bums" like most people think. There is actually legitimate talent still on that team, and Geno is not that terrible of a quarterback. He kept a lot of plays alive that would have been easy sacks if it was most other quarterbacks.

It was a clear penalty.

I think you should be more mad that your crummy team you cheer for was even in position to lose to Geno Smith and the Jets.

their best chances were 06-09, for some reason they thought that Norval Turner could get them further.

Sunburned face *** *****

06 was their year to win it. They imploded in the New England game though. Had they won that, I'm convinced they win the Super Bowl that year. Indy at home for the afc title game, a team who's number they had in both regular season and playoffs at that time and the rex grossman led bears in the Super Bowl.

Granted they won playoff games in 07 and 08 but you could tell their were declining and by the 09 divisional round and shonn greene playoff touchdown run with the lt mock celebration afterwards singlehandedly destroyed that chargers underachieving era

They couldn't win with prime Rivers, prime LT, prime Gates, and prime V-Jax.

That's just....wow.

Aside from 07 where the patriots were unstoppable aside from the game that mattered most, they let legit opportunities pass them by in 06, 08, and 09.

The 06 implosion to New England

Going 8-8 in 08 causing them to have a lower seed in a year where Brady was hurt. They lost some stupid games that year to teams they had no business losing to. Having Pittsburgh at home instead would've made a huge difference.

09 the jets divisional game loss following an 11 game win streak. Again in the afc title game they would've met the team who's number they had during that timeframe and just beat in the playoffs the past 2 years in a row.

They blew some golden opportunities during that stretch.

You dudes are going hard on my "crummy team" after one loss. Tom Brady and the Patriots needed a miracle to beat EJ Manuel's Bills. It's Week ******g 1....calm yourself down.

I also said multiple times the bad, bad feeling I had about this season and the Jets game for the Bucs leading up to Sunday. The team is loaded with talent but there's parts of it that could make the whole team completely fall to ****.

I would be so bitter as a Chargers fan after those Norv years... What a waste of talent

Trust me. It takes every ounce of blood sweat and tears in my body to stay a Chargers fan.

I've been tempted a few times to jump off the wagon and join a fan base of an elite franchise, but I just can't. Not that kind of person.

I root for some other players and teams of course, but I'm gonna ride with the Bolts win or lose.

It's just such a shame to see this franchise waste so many careers.

Such a shame. :smh:

That Chargers team also had prime Sproles and prime Cromartie.
didnt they have Turner 06-07? Good Lord.

LT was an animal in 06

then in 10 they had the #1 offense and defense, and missed the playoffs

Those Broncos vs Chargers games were epic back in the day. It was like a competition as to who could be the bigger d-bag between Cutler and Rivers.

Thanks MMG.

As if I wasn't already depressed enough about last nights choke job.

Now I remember exactly how much talent was wasted... :smh:

*sigh* :frown:

I'm guessing that was the same year they had the worst special teams unit in the league  ? I damn near fainted when they had a punt blocked and returned for a td, then had a KR put on them not too long after that

Yeah that was it. What a crazy stat that is though.

Nate Kaeding tho :smh:

That name makes me want to vomit :x

Best fg percentage in the history of the regular season.

Could kick 50 yarders with ease all year long.

But when you needed him to make a 38 yard fg to win in the playoffs... Choke city.

So many wasted playoff trips because of that man and his inability to come through in the clutch.

The anti-Vinetary. :smh:

Both jets playoff losses he choked big time. The 04 miss in overtime and the 3 missed in the 09 game. He missed some in the New England loss too if I recall but him in the playoffs was choke city

so many good charger teams and not even a superbowl appearance
