Reading through these political threads, im starting to realize this generation has no morals, the only value we seem to have Is 'everyone do what makes you happy' but, taken to the moderately extreme that line of thought is dangerous. We talk about homosexuality so much that its leaving kids as young as 5 talking about their sexuality, we don't care about dress, which I was always taught you dress up for a situation you respect, but that standard is out the door. Kids nowadays are ok living off their parents dime well into adulthood. We live out lives through a screen and create our own reality, condemning those who don't agree as 'idiots' instead of actually thinking bout what's being said. We scream 'individuality' but when confronted with someone who doesn't share our views we get angry. We think we live our lives in a vacuum, never acknowledging that the movies we watch, tv shows we love; the blogs we visit, the people we follow have a profound impact on our minds n spirits.

Twenty years ago there was some Archie Bunker dude saying 'watch, the blacks are goin to take over our sports n sleep with our women' ya know what, he was right. Now I'm calling it, kids are not going to have any solid moral foundation, they will be parts of various crowds never truly knowing who they are, always angry, dependent, they'll be grown kids and the powers that be will easily control by providing convieinance and clever pandering.

20 years ago = 1993...

I agree about techology ruining communication.

this generation has no morals
I think the problem is people romanticize past generations so damn much cause people are ALWAYS complaining about the current generation.

value we seem to have Is 'everyone do what makes you happy'
Everyone always will do what makes them happy. Thats the point of living

Sexuality is a thing that has built up from sexual freedom of the hippie era. Blame your parents for that cause its stuff coming up from their generation. Sex was a backdoor thing and now its on the lawn for everyone to see.
we don't care about dress, which I was always taught you dress up for a situation you respect,
If you dont know how to dress your self its your fault

Kids nowadays are ok living off their parents dime well into adulthood.
Well high unemployment of college graduates for one hand and bad parenting on the other hand will do that

We live out lives through a screen and create our own reality, condemning those who don't agree as 'idiots' instead of actually thinking bout what's being said.
Welcome to the future. Its easier to get that 15 minutes of fame and now everyone has a soapbox like your doing now

We scream 'individuality' but when confronted with someone who doesn't share our views we get angry.
People been doing that for centuries

Doesn't take romantacism of the past generation to see the problems with the current generation.

not blaming my parents for the oversexualization of this generation, that is a unique problem to us, cuz even with all the "open sexual expression" we try to impose on an entire generation, the vast majority of youth were still pretty sexually conservative, or at least a good amount. I've had this talk with my mom about the "free sex" of the 60's and she says it was a minority of people that the media tried to portray as the entire generation, she grew up during that era.

It's hard to dress yourself when you wear a blazer to a bar and everyone calls you a dbag, ya ya ya, I'm not suppose to care, but no one wants to constantly stand out for being themselves and wearing what they want to wear. If you always overdress, as I often do,  it makes other people uncomfortable.

because it is the future, doesn't make it a good future, and it doesn't have to be the future if we as a generation choose humanity over convenience, like stated before, outside of NT I'm generally unconnected, I barely even have my cell phone on me half the time. People stay getting mad at me because I didn't catch the latest facebook chatter.

Ehhh in the 50's for example America was all about that "cookie cutter" life, up until the whole "express yourself" generation individuality was highly over rated, read a few history books and "fitting in" "being in the in crowd" faking like you were a "have" as opposed to a "have not" was a big thing in almost every society, we are no different from the rest of these generations, we just like to act like we are.

And we need to stop blaming the "high" unemployment rate, I have a roommate that could easily go get a job, because in reality there are a bunch of jobs out there, but people dont' want to take them. I have two jobs, going to school full time and involved in a bunch of stuff, don't need everyone to be like me,but don't scream "unemployment" when I work for someone who is constantly complaining that he can't find someone who wants to take the jobs he has open (server, dishwasher, cook).

Sounds like underemployment is the issue here.

My only concern regards war. I don't give a damn about technology and the social media, tv and movies. I can handle all that, we as humans have to change and adapt, we have been doing this since the beginning of time.

My only concern about our future is that we keep sticking our effing heads in every other countries business. I am getting really tired of us fighting other countries wars, spending billions on other counties while we have cities going bankrupt.

Syria has absolutely nothin to do with us, other counties are already saying they want nothing to do with it yet we still have to get involved.
That crap baffles me.

This crap is about to make me get out of the military!

Agreed, but underemployment is a different issue than Unemployment. In my humble experience, it's always easier to get a real job when you have a job. It's as if the employers are saying "well ****, someone else has hired him, he's at least dependable enough to work somewhere, maybe he'll work for me." Plus having a source of income that comes from your labor gives you a completely different perception of income, it's one thing to earn a dollar and another thing to be given a dollar. I have little to no respect for a grown man not working, of course there are exceptions and mitigating factors, but in general if you are healthy, smart and have an abundance of free time, as a man, you should be working somewhere or working on something, or trying to work. I was raised with different values, my mom never told me to go get a job, when I was 14 i walked my *** downtown got my work permit and started putting apps. Someone giving you money, is someone giving you life, someone that has control over your life. My mom is proud of me, not because I'm a law student, but because she knows, no matter what, I will find a way to take care of myself. Thats a core value.

It bothers me the way sex is viewed in this country. Love has been pretty much sapped out of it. It's all about having the highest bodycount.
IMO, don't think this is a trend that should be associated with our generation.

Take away Twitter, FB, etc. and this trend would have never happened. Can almost completely attribute this to technological advancement of communication.

When males and females could connect to everyone in their entire city and beyond through a device in their pocket it was inevitable.

It destroyed the personal interaction and now its almost impossible to approach anyone in public unless your game is solid, its all digital now. Your wife could be doing dirt across the city, and UOENO it.

With all the variety at your fingertips its hard to deny the cons of being in a relationship are beginning to outweigh the pros.

The "shame" behind sex in this country is really funny to me. I don't know what it is but other (developed) countries view sex casually. Only in this country we like to throw the "moral" card around. I seriously think the US is sexually oppressed and that fuels a lot of the BS. On TV you can see guys kill tons of people but god forbid if you see a tit or a ****, because you know, you're going to "hell".

Our govt is the biggest issue an I agree.

i actually think people are starting to wake up in a sense and realize a lot of these institutionalized norms and practices that past generations adhered to are complete ********. many of them are nothing but traps to keep people in perpetual states of mediocrity.

...do i worry about the future like say 10-15 years from now, yes because i think thats when **** will be hardest but i think the people living now can provide a beacon of hope to correct the mistakes of the past...
...or not...i have no idea...im just going along for the ride

The ones who can't get a date and beg a celebrity to be their prom date is way more pathetic. Trying to get sympathy for a date.

The sex stuff is fueled more by the media and the oversexualition shoved down our throats. The hell do I need a broad in a bathing suit about to cum selling me a hamburger? Social media and technology, and those that glorify the skeezers looking for false validation, definitely don't help, however.
