Melo needs help. What more is there to say? We need a PG and another viable 2nd option scoring the basketball.
This is known, but real talk, how is it going to happen? I need to hear a real solution other than all these "pie in the sky" scenarios fans are dreaming up. On top of that, what TYPE of personnel would suit Carmelo? I still say he needs a team built around him like Iverson had, it has to suit him. Which is very difficult to do. He doesn't need another shooter, he shoots too many jumpers and doesn't go to the basket enough. He needs a slasher that doesn't require the ball a lot and can get to the line. He needs to have a team concept that emphasizes passing and he has to buy in, and needs to be on a team that plays defense AS A TEAM. That takes major overhaul for this Knick team to win a ring. I can see those issues being resolved if he goes elsewhere but it's hard to do with not many assets and cap space at the moment. He might run out of time trying to build a contender from the ground up here.
Nah we playing the triangle. No reason Melo can't operate the same way Kobe and MJ did in that system. In this age of NBA play, it makes no sense to build a team around Melo the way Philly did with Iverson. That aint getting the team past the 2nd round most times. Maybe the ECF once or twice and Melo would have to be playing on A.I's level the whole time when he made his run.

We improve personnel the same way any other NBA team does, through trades and eventually draft picks. It'll take time given what we got but that's how it gets done and that's how we'll get better. If you're being realistic you know it won't be an immediate turn around. Everything is up to the players and coach getting better at defense and offensive.

No reason to think though that we're stuck with the bums currently on the team.

This isnt about me or you or any of our personal opinions on Lebron and the path he chose. Lebron could give a **** about what I think.

This is solely about me as a fan. And as a Knicks fan I would not feel a sense of pride winning with Lebron here.

Call me an idealist or unrealistic, but being a fan is all about rooting for something you believe in. Maybe I take things too seriously but it would sicken me to see Lebron James win with the Knicks and people start to cheer for that mother ****** as the greatest Knick of all time for that matter on his 3rd ******* team.

I mean Patrick Ewing was my BOY. No, he wasnt perfect but for all his short comings I cam hang my hat at the end of the day knowing that the dude gave his all. I mean he went up against Michael ******* Jordan. There was no, "Yo Barkley lets join up to beat this dude," or "Yo stockton and Malone ill see yall in Utah next summer." For **** sake Jordan even had Pippen to play with.

Im over calling out Lebron for what he did, but like I said it still matters. Maybe it was a smart basketball move but it doesnt mean that im not allowed to dislike him as a Knicks fan that is what Im supposed to do. Im a loyalist. I mean as much as I respect MJ as the goat I dislike him too. Why am I obliged to root for a guy who beat my team over and over again? Because he was really good?

I would consider it to be disrespectful to root for Lebron as a Knick and talking about him as an all time Knick great having lived through a true "or die trying" guy like Patrick Ewing.

Being a fan is personal preference and rooting for a team you could take pride in. I want to see new championship banners in the MSG rafters but I am definitely of the "not at that cost" party. I could never root for a Lebron led Knicks team. Im not gonna call anyone wrong if yall disagree thats just how I feel.

Maybe im just too emotional about my Knicks but it would not feel proper. Like someone said before me it would honestly more change how I felt about being a fan of an NBA team in general. If NBA players arent willing to fight their *** off and win for the front of the jersey anymore, and dudes like Lebron are even willing to hop from team to team in order to win, than why should I waste my time devoting myself to a team? Why should I when it means so little to those involved?

Basically where im getting at is that I could never root for a "Knick" who cared that little about being a Knick. Lebron would be a Knick solely to increase his own marketability and increase his own ring count. I couldnt **** with that after being fans of dudes like Patrick Ewing or John Starks. They might now have Lebron's skillset but I could definitely appreciate what they stood for. Thats all I can ask for as a fan.

Spot On.

Plus imagine all the LeBron fans and dudes like Drake coming over to our side. All those LeBron Stan's would make me puke. It'd make me actually miss and reminisce when some of you were just Melo Stan's. - It'd just be horrible. Unbearable.

Personally I would rather beat LeBron than win with him but if he says he's coming than sign me up.

Honestly I'm madder at NY for hoeing themselves out for LeBron more than anything. The mural at Rucker Park, all that nonsense in the paper about free nights at Scores or whatever. I don't fault LeBron one bit for not coming here. We weren't ready to win a damn thing. Melo didn't care about being a Knick until he wanted that paper and wanted to help Lala advance her career. Amare came here for the bread. As long as you show effort once you get here I couldn't care less how you felt before. LeBron for all his attention whoring nonsense would DEFINITELY be committed. Even when Donny Walsh tried to right the ship Dolan got in the way. It would be Cleveland all over again.

Some Knick fans are used to and deserve misery man....not all are like this but those that do...

. I still say Melo will never win a ring with him being the man on the team, but if you insist...

Oh, so now I deserve misery? Because I have such a profound respect for the team I root for, it would be hard for me to take pride rooting for a ring chasing self-obsessed Lebron James after he already spurned us once and would be on his third NBA team?  Guess charma really is a *****.

Like I said, call me an idealist all you want. I could admit that myself. But try to tell me that I "deserve misery" just because I expect my team's players to resemble at the very least a similar level of loyalty to the Knicks that I have as a fan.

Heat looking to target Carmelo Anthony

Heat looking to target Carmelo Anthony

Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein

MIAMI -- The Miami Heat's immediate focus remains overcoming a 2-1 NBA Finals deficit to the San Antonio Spurs, but discussions have begun within the organization about trying to grow their so-called Big Three into a Big Four, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources told ESPN.com that Heat officials and the team's leading players have already started to explore their options for creating sufficient financial flexibility to make an ambitious run at adding New York Knicks scoring machine Carmelo Anthony this summer in free agency.

The mere concept would require the star trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to all opt out of their current contracts by the end of the month and likely take further salary reductions in new deals that start next season to give Miami the ability to offer Anthony a representative first-year salary. The Heat also are prevented from making any formal contact with Anthony until July 1 and can do so then only if he opts out of the final year of his current contract. Anthony has until June 23 to notify the Knicks of his intentions, according to sources.

But the success of the Heat's 2010 free-agent bonanza has established them as the NBA's undisputed destination franchise, with owner Micky Arison empowering big-thinking team president Pat Riley to attempt to pull off another coup in the market despite new collective bargaining agreement rules aimed at preventing it.

Sources say internal conversations within the Heat organization about pursuing this course have run concurrently with Miami's bid to win a third consecutive championship, with sources adding that James in particular is likely to try to recoup potential salary sacrificed through fresh off-court business opportunities if the Heat's new dream scenario does come to fruition.

James' off-court business is booming, thanks to a string of investments paying off massively and the prospect of new opportunities in endorsements and entertainment projects promising to expand his wealth significantly in coming years.

In a recent example, while James was leading the Heat to a victory over the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals, sources say the 29-year-old was finalizing what is believed to be the biggest equity cash payout for a professional athlete in history as part of Apple's recent $3 billion purchase of Beats Electronics. Sources briefed on the situation say James realized a profit of more than $30 million in cash and stock in the Beats sale after he had struck a deal to get a small stake in the company at its inception in 2008 in exchange for promoting its high-end headphones.

With cooperation from their stars and role players Udonis Haslem and Chris Andersen, who also possess player options for next season, the Heat could open up in excess of $50 million in cap space this summer and have the most financial flexibility in the league. The only Heat player locked into place for next season is Norris Cole at a salary of $2 million, though Riley will have to contend with a handful of cap holds for pending free agents as well as their upcoming first-round pick in the draft later this month (No. 26 overall).

This isn't the NBA anymore, it's the WCW.

I feel where you're coming from and understand your POV about the stars joining one team, but you have to understand, the CBA made it what it is now. It's harder to keep teams together because of the cap and contract lengths and you have what it is today; players like Lebron having the choice to go to a team that can offer the most money every 4-5 years. Yeah, teams have "bird rights" and and all of that, which was designed to create parity ultimately league wide. But, the way players get constant compared it's a battle between creating your own great legacy by building a team under the current CBA (which I think creates a lot of incomplete teams) vs getting paid while you can. That's the crux of all this. So players create the shortcut and "have their cake and eat it too" so to speak, and they get killed for it. Your reasoning is why I stopped being a Knick fan and a fan of individual teams in basketball. It's frustrating. Especially now. You're loyal to a team (which by the way, is never loyal to you as a fan, but that's another argument), and you hope and wish they do _______ to make a team better, and they don't. And you get emotionally attached and a lot of times it's a repeated cycle. Am I saying it's wrong to be a fan of one NBA team? Absolutely not. It's not for me anymore. I love basketball too much as a game in itself to be frustrated by one teams ability or inability to win a ring, but you can still appreciate the team despite their shortcomings. I commend that in NBA fans. You said it yourself, you're emotionally attached to the Knicks and you can be an idealist, it's a bad combo with this franchise. Been there, done that. With the NBA, at least now, you can tell at the beginning of every NBA season who is going to be in contention for the 'chip. Right off the bat, I knew it would be a rematch this year. It's kind of anticlimactic when you think about it. Did it stop me from watching basketball? No. But I also don't have false hope and look at things unrealistically.

I can't see him going to the Heat, unless he takes a severe pay cut and they kick Wade to the curb.

Who knows these days. Melo could very well go where he wants. & the Heat have the ability to pull off another big 3. Not a big 4 though.

Bryan Windhorst can eat a ****. Clown *** dude should just continue to worship the ground Lebron walks on and keep his fat *** sausage fingers off the keyboard typing nonsense.

I'm tired of these wild scenarios. Just let them play out.

I'm not talking about this thread, I'm talking about these "NBA sources" with this bullcrap

Dudes is posting them in here though

I prefer to read through this thread and suddenly everybody is ******** on SAS out of nowhere and its cuz they all heard him say something on tv or radio or some article. I don't want to actually read/seeany of the **** he be on. Same with some of these other lame reporters with sources.

Like I really need to see a story about Melo being targeted by the Heat of all teams. All it usually does is cause fans to have unrealistic animosity to a player when he aint even say anything
