2014 NFL Draft Thread

Yep. These pro days aren't the end all. However, I do think that an NFL caliber quarterback should still look good against air. I still strongly believe the best way to evaluate a quarterback is his game films and what he does during games, so a lot of times these pro days can do more harm than good, in terms of draft positioning.

Game film is a great way

But the problem with that is if the kid is running an offense that doesn't have in it routes or throws that you need to see him make, with any sort of frequency, then you need to have a way to see his ability to make those throws. That's where the private workouts come into play I'd think.

Pro day is just the combine in a more comfortable setting for the prospect

At the end of the day, there really is ZERO way to truly know.

I'm sorry, but for as amazing as Peyton was in high school, college, combine, pro day, etc

I can point to Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers NOT being all those things, and being every bit as incredible once they got to the pro level and honed their craft.

In the end, it comes down to the player wanting it, the coach coaching properly, the talent built around, the scheme, and maybe even some blind *** luck sometimes.

A lot of it like was posted is just situational. Right system, coaches, and the player himself. It's fun to project, but we have no idea and neither do NFL GMs

@RavensInsider: Delaware CB Travis Hawkins: 4.37 today, 38-inch vertical, 20 reps of 225 pounds, 10-8 broad jump, over 10 teams attended.

:wow:

^^ From the video I saw of him he looks pretty good in press and zone coverage. Also not afraid to tackle, he's going to earn a spot on special teams with he excels in a lot

This dude Merril Hoge is so extreme. He thinks Clowney will be bust and Khalil Mack is the best defensive player he's ever seen.

That was Teddy's pro day?

Man, that wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. I hear you with the Teddy checkdown comment, Buc Em, but there's nothing wrong with that if you can lead a team down the field. I'm still not concerned about Teddy. The deep ball can be improved over time if you have the arm strength already, which Teddy does. His short to medium throws were on point and I don't mind the duck throws because they were accurate. He still had a couple nice deep balls. Some time with Norv will make this guy what he should be. I hope he falls, because the Vikings could make this guy into a legit start in the NFL.

Anytime I see Hodge or Polian I change the channel

I was about to but it was just too funny. Dude just flat out said Clowney has no heart and said the Texans should take Mack. He talked about dude like he's gonna be LT.
