Atlanta Falcons are open to trading up in draft, per league sources. Falcons are first team known to be willing to go up.

One of the deepest drafts in prolly the last ten years and TD is looking to trade up

That's what makes so funny. I knew the falcons wanted to trade up and I hope they do. So many holes to fill and they going to give it up for one player.

no way all that happens, I don't think our GM is that desperate to move up. If he is, this'll be his last draft as a GM

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Back during the combine, I had mentioned hearing around NFL circles that there was very little concern about Jadeveon Clowney's perceived work ethic issues, given his talent.

On Tuesday, Texans head coach Bill O'Brien offered another perspective. Rather than accept the premise of Clowney's work ethic issues, O'Brien argued that they are a bit overblown.

"In college there’s like 85 to 90 plays per game," O'Brien said. "He plays all the time. I think if you looked at any player in college, especially at the defensive line spot, playing in a league where most of the teams are shotgun and throwing the ball and rushing the passer, I dare you to find me a guy that plays 90 snaps like his life’s on the line every game. But when the game’s on the line, Jadeveon plays hard. He’s an explosive player, he’s a productive player, he’s an instinctive player. So I think that’s kind of been blown out of proportion, but at the same time we’ve got to make sure we get to know him and then keep getting to know him when we get there."

While it's true that there's only so much a coach can do, getting the most out of a player is a coach's job. Motivation is as big a part of it as game strategy. I'd bet in Clowney a good coach only sees the positive way he can mold an exceptionally talented player.

As for workout numbers from the combine:

"I wouldn’t say that with a guy like Clowney -- I don’t think you base a large percentage of your decision on like what he benched," O'Brien said. "I think a large percentage is based on what type of guy he is."

The Texans will go to his pro day next week and get a better chance to determine who he is.

Clowney did say he wanted to play in ATL :nerd:

Assuming Mack, Clowney, and Robinson are off the board in the first five picks I'm definitely blowing up the phones of somebody like Arizona or Cleveland who need a QB. I think the Browns have like 7 picks in the first 4 rounds

Tbh considering the holes they have and the amount of talent available even if one of them made it to no.6 I would still consider trading back for the right offer

I think if they can get Mack, Clowney or Robinson at 6 then you jump on that, wouldn't want to risk losing them to TB who picks right after. I would like for them to trade back and take Lewan and then maybe get an additional 2nd or 3rd

If Watkins falls you won't have to worry about those 3.

I'm actually scared that ya would draft him, Roddy getting old and Julio being hurt so much. If that happens I'm throwing my TV out the window

The New England Patriots might not be done adding wide receivers this offseason.

Head coach Bill Belichick and six Patriots staff members worked out projected first-round wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin at the Florida State campus last Friday, NFL Media’s Gil Brandt reported Wednesday. Benjamin is 6-foot-5, 240 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

The Patriots already added wide receiver Brandon LaFell and re-signed last year’s No. 1 target Julian Edelman this offseason. Slot receiver Danny Amendola is expected to start in three-receiver sets.

The Patriots drafted second-round wide receiver Aaron Dobson and fourth-round wideout Josh Boyce last year. Undrafted rookie receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was a Week 1 starter in 2013.

Signing LaFell and showing interest in projected first-round wide receivers like Benjamin, USC’s Marqise Lee and Texas A&M’s Mike Evans could mean the Patriots don’t have a lot of faith in last year’s rookies. This year’s draft-eligible crop of wideouts is considered deep with talent.

I wish we could for the same exact reasons but if Julio can stay healthy IMO he's a top 3 WR. No need to pass on much bigger needs but I can't say if I was a GM and he was there it wouldn't be tempting

Looks like the Minnesota Vikings may ultimatley pass on drafting Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. It appears that he simply isn't grown up enough to handle the NFL.

As with many teams assessment of Manziel, the Vikings list the star college QB's maturity at the top of their concerns, a big red flag for a young man entering the pros.

"It's still going to come down to how we feel about how he's going to be in the locker room, what kind of person he's going to be, what kind of leader, and then go from there," Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said, according to twincities.com.
