2014 NFL Draft Thread

Never understood why people liked Barr so much he's moved way up draft boards and passed Mack on many

I feel like I've seen the opposite, Barr has fallen everywhere when he started around even with Mack.  Mack has shot up like crazy, with the peak being Kiper saying he'd take him #1 (before Clowney reminded everyone at the pro day).

Hmm maybe I got it backwards

I think Mack has the potential to be a perennial all pro

Everything he said is exactly how I've felt about Ealy. I don't see what the hell scouts are seeing in him to be a possible first/early second round pick. Nothing jumps off the film with him. Not even in his highlight videos where he's supposed to look better than he really is.

We need a DE in the first three rounds but I just don't see this dude Ealy being an improvement over Clayborn.
i think he ends up in the 1st because of a lack of true 4-3 DEs in this draft..

but if i'm in charge of a team i would rather wait and get marcus smith in the 2nd or 3rd.. you guys might be able to get him in the high 3rd (69th overall)

@100027  has got it right, coming into the process barr was rated as the top 5 pick with mack being graded as a 1st round guy.. then it moved to mack being in the lower half of the top 10 (to buffalo).. and now it's mack over barr, with barr slipping

barr has the raw potential, but you can tell he literally just started playing defense (which he has).. coming to UCLA barr was a RB.. then he played RB, WR and TE his first 2 years at UCLA

he's getting by on his athletic ability, but hasnt learned the nuances of the poistion

In my opinion, you can't use first round picks on guys with potential or athletic ability. For every combine stud (guys who were meh before tearing up the combine/pro days) who actually makes it in the NFL, how many of them wash out? Same goes for guys with 'intangibles' and 'things you can't teach.' It's cool when a guy puts up 225 a ton of times, scores high on the Wonderlic, and/or doesn't have off-the-field issues... but if he can't perform on the field and has shown a tendency to do dumb **** / be lost, how can teams draft them so damn high?

I hate to rag on the dude, but Tim Tebow is a perfect example. Denver reached on a guy because he was a winner, had heart, and showed excellent leadership during his time at Florida. The guy couldn't throw a football into a trashcan at practice. I like Derek Carr a lot, but have you seen this dude under pressure or in a big game?

Save those guys for the later rounds. If another team feels like reaching, so be it. One of two things will happen: he'll end up a gem, and people will say "wow, you missed, LOL!" or you'll have wasted a first round pick on someone who has hit their ceiling.

Game film > *

We seen it more recently with Poe, JPP, Ziggy, Aldon, CP, Mingo, Lane Johnson, Chandler Jones, Can Newton, Tyrion Smith that were raw athletes taken in the first.
The success rate on these type of guys seems to trending up unless, I think of any outright busts with similar attributes of recent.

Brian Quick :smh:

Eagles should take Barr with their first round and Allen Robinson with the second round. Although, I don't think there is any way Robinson lasts that long now. He is going to be a stud though.

Most of the guys you listed had really good game film, though.

Troy Williamson, Derrick Harvey, Vernon Gholston, Blaine Gabbert, DHB, Aaron Maybin, Jason Smith...

I'd rather take Pryor but everyone knows how I feel about my dude A Rob...beast

Of course my point was more about these potential guys are starting to work out more like Poe and JPP.

Where teams really mess up is at qb, drafting guys like Ponder, Gabbert, Manuel high strictly off potential.

The second part I said of recent there seems to more of a success rate on these guys.

Gabbert was considered a high pick but EJ and Ponder were 2nd round talent with huge reaches by the Vikings and Bills

Oh, definitely, the success rate has been much higher recently. It's still a balancing act, though, and you never know what you're going to end up with.

Offensive players seem to be the ones missing lately. Receivers, QBs, and o-linemen.

Drafting a qb that's afraid to get hit is never a good idea, EJ and Ponder couldn't throw in the middle field, 3 terrible picks imo.

People going in on AJ McCarron today.

Only a selfish immature kid like Johnny Manziel would sign up for a reality series. A true winner like AJ McCarron focuses on studying tape.

McCarron is a bum and he knows it; smart to make money while the iron is hot

In 5 years she will have left him and he will be a fixture at Bama leaving off the good ole days

A.j. McCarron is just lame as hell.

There's something about him that is incredibly uncool.

good enough for katherine webb tho :pimp:

Until he gets drafted by the Patriots and Gronk hits her with a
