2014 NFL Draft Thread

[COLOR=#red] DeadsetAce DeadsetAce We'll see, I mean his bigger contributions were in the red zone his last few games and being reliable on 3rd down... pretty much what you want in a slot. Had surgery in October I believe (if i remember right) so he should be able to go by preseason... we'll see how explosive he is though. Usually takes a year and a half, two years. If there is some depth in the slot I think it would be better for everyone around.

@GUNNA GET IT Personnel wise... Yes. I really do. I would say 3 pieces specifically... 2 are on the offensive line and the linebacking core adjustment. Offensive tackle is pretty deep in this draft, I have said trade down a ton of times, get more picks in a big time draft like this and pick up a Yankey or Gabe Jackson and Mewhort or Richardson. Tight ends killed them. Get a good MLB (Jones or Barrow), push Ellerbee to OLB and keep Misi at OLB or pick up a Ronald Powell in the 5th/6th would be great too. All much easier said then done.

But for me it comes down to coaching and scheme... Bill Lazon can and will be the x-factor. He will either find success with his offense, which the Dolphins offense the last two years has been so predictable, or it will crash and burn and they start finding another head coach... but I am excited to see what he brings in, see if Wallcae/Tanny gel.

We would be 2-3 pieces away from contending, IF, and only IF, multiple other guys step up from last year. IE, Jamar Taylor, Dion Jordan finally getting on the field, Wallace and Tannehill same page, Miller stepping up, and Reshad Jones back to 2012 scheme.

THEN, add 1-2 guys on the Oline, and 1-2 nice LBers to step in, they would be good enough to compete in the AFC. Knock off Denver or New England? That would be a whirlwind of good fortune from all the players I listed, plus Philbin growing a brain, plus Lazor working Foles like magic on Tannehill, as well as perfect health, etc.

Bascially, odds are long. So they should just try to draft as many solid pieces as they can, get the team as deep as possible, and hope for as much improvement as possible.

Wouldn't even be surprised if Jerry pulled it off. You know he thinks business first, football second.

He's smart enough to know what kind of $$$$$ Manziel will add to his wallet.

drafting Manziel? What the hell are they gonna do trade Romo? I can't see a team wanting that contract coming off major back surgery

Exactly. Which is what I believe will happen. We've already talked about it plenty but all of the rookies really had a red shirt year from last year. They will make some noise for sure.

I do think Tanny's drops and timing will be fixed for Wallace. If he gets a little rainbow action to let Wallace run then success.

Miller's carries will be split with Moreno, wouldn't be surprised if it's 70/30... but he still has big play potential in that 30%.

Some of it was players last year, a lot of it was bad coaching.

But specifically talking about personnel I do think it is close. Being out coached often is another conversation.

As much as I hate on the Cowboys, Jerry seems to genuinely like his players and former players always stick up for him.

Jerry Jones is good for the NFL.

Exactly...Romo and Witten would be the only pieces the Cowboys have to move up. Nobody's gonna take Romo, but Jerry would be dumb enough to trade a HOF TE for a undersized flashy QB :smh:

I need to buy the cowboys...unfortunately I'm only $999,999,999 short

As much as I hate on the Cowboys, Jerry seems to genuinely like his players and former players always stick up for him.

That's the whole problem. His treatment of the players undermines the coaches...which is why he's had a band of underachievers since JJ left

Jerry Jones is good for the NFL.

That he is...horrible for Dallas fans...but good for LULZ for every other franchise.

Browns.

They got the cap space, he would make them a playoff team.

“It’s often said, Why don’t I get someone to be the G.M.? Why don’t I get someone to pick the players?” Jones said. “Well, who in the world do you think that person, when they walk through the door and say, ‘We want to get this player, and we want to pay this player,’ what in the world do you think I’m going to do? I’m going to sit down, and I’m going to go through it, and I’m going to say, ‘Show me the player before I write the check. Show me the player. And let me see everything about the player.’ Well, rather than have that happen, I get involved in it and get to know everything there is to know about the players before they get through the door.”

So are the Cowboys or Diplomats the Knicks of the NFL?  Or are they just both?

Snyder hired competent folks years ago to run his organization, please don't compare him to Jerry.

There's no way the Boys trade Romo the cap hit would be astronomical. They've been restructuring his contract for years and owe him a ton of money, almost half of his guaranteed $ in his extension is from his last contract.
