How was the early 2000s?

9/11 changed everything

It really did. I worked at a restaurant right across from Knott's Berry Farm. The same street also had a lot of other tourist attractions. After 9/11, things were just never the same. Business really died and never recovered.

Life was great until 9/11. 9/11 really transformed this country.

From my prospective, this is how I would summarize the early 2000's:

1/1/2000 - 9/10/2001 - The last of the "great era", very reminiscent of the (late) 90's. Napster/ Morpheus start the whole file sharing craze.

9/11/2001 - 12/31/2003 - Country changes completely. A time of fear. Muslim-phobia begins around this time. Dipset, G-unit, & the south are big on the hip hop scene. Style of Clothing is still pretty reminiscent of the late 90's.

1/1/2004 - 12/31/2006 - Birth of Social media (relative to social media today). Emo/ punk rock re-amerges as a major genre of music. Dipset, G-unit, & the south retain their influence on the hip hop scene. Skating, dunks, and the whole hype beast thing starts around the later part of this era.

1/1/2007 - 1/1/2010 - Country goes into a massive economic strain. Hipsters begin to emerge.

Some time around '02-'03 I was shopping at a Robinsons-May. There was this middle-eastern man minding his own business and just looking around the store. This group of around 3-4 teenagers were walking away from him and out of nowhere just shouted really loud "terrorist." Everyone around the vicinity including myself just looked at each other and we were like wtf? I looked at the targeted man and I'm not sure if he just pretended not to hear or what. He just kept going about his business.

In the year 2000 Speedy came out with the song ''El Amor Con La Ropa'' and it became an instant Reggaeton Underground hit in PR and in some parts of the states!

Damn I remember that song.
I'm from the west coast so we got reggaeton way later on.
That song was bumping in like 04' out here.

Here's a list of a few more other Reggaeton songs that were also Underground hits in the Island in the early 2000s...
Plan B - No Puedo Estar Sin Sex (2002)
Nicky Jam ft. Daddy Yankee - En La Cama (2001)
Yandel - Dembow (2002)
Daddy Yankee ft. Speedy - Recuerdas (2002)
Yaga & Mackie - Chiquitita (2002)
Nejo - Deja Que La Nota Se Te Suba (2002)
Baby Rasta & Gringo - Yo Quiero Una Noche Mas (2002)
Lito & Polaco - Estamos En Guerra (2003)
Don Omar - Dale Don Dale (2002)
and the list goes on lol...

When it comes to this, I'm a Reggaeton pioneer/historian. I remember everything from this genre cause I been listening to it since it was called El Underground Rap & Reggae.

C Flyness ''The UnorthodoxWOLFF''

Good choice and that's whats up that your Asian and know about Tempo! I remember that song that's off that Gargolas 3 Various Artists Album from 2001 . People here have to understand I didn't post all the songs that were Reggaeton Underground Hits in the early 2000s cause that list would take forever to get it done. I just listed a few songs, not all just to make things clear.
