Let us appreciate those who've discovered NT during times when sneaker info and accessibility were scarce, back when we paved the lanes for those born in the 90's, for those who are on IG stunting all day right now because of the inspiration we provided to those around us locally, nationally and internationally.

NTers who became NTers from 1999 to 2002 - how do you feel about the sneaker cutlure nowadays? Do you still have that passion, is it still the same? Do you think we helped influence those who are just getting into the culture now?

And also, how do you feel about the direction the whole sneaker thing is going in? With Nike bastardizing every release now? Using online tools to release sneakers, nowadays - I can't keep up anymore :frown:

I've literally lost most of my interest in sneakers...and it sucks. Do my OG Nters feel the same way?

Havent cared about sneakers in years. And yes seeing all these releases saddens me. Is nothing sacred anymore? Back in my high school days funky colors on J's = variant. Now its the norm.

Saw theyre re-retroing the steel 10's though. Might cop. I was a sophmore in HS when they released the red and purple joints and i never got to cop :smh:

Man I give no ***** about a sneaker these days. Every now and then I'll cop a favorite retro, but i'm pretty much done.

Found NT in 01, joined in 02.

I just stay in my lane and do me, these youngsters can't take away my passion for kicks so I buy what I like, pass on what I don't, and keep it moving.

If anything, I'm annoyed by the fact that Nike/JB have taken advantage of these hype beasts to maximize profit, so when I do decide to make a purchase, I know I'm paying for less relative to how it was back in the day.

$160 for 3s :smh:

Pretty much, got everything I need, if anything I'll re-up on an OG colorway if it's easy to get like the recent Fire Red V's.

Otherwise too many ugly colorways and made up exclusives/limited sneakers. The RSVP/Bot situation is just a joke. I'm good.

:smh: nothing like it use to be, but times have changed. This reminded me of the "how was it in the early 2000s thread" .. technology changed everything. I'm not a fan of the new direction the sneaker culture is headed in, but I luv my kicks so I had no choice but to adjust and adapt.

I havent bought a pair or jordan in litteraly years, I think the last was a pair of Jordan 9 Citrus that i picked up on sale at Foot Locker for $99.99, (Yes they were on sale).

Im to old to stand in line, join twitter and raffles for a pair of sneakers.

I normally walk in browse around the shoe store and pick up something that catches my eye, but its even hard to do that now with all the fruity colors in shoes.

I cant even walk in and buy a pair of Kobes in Lakers colors to match my jersey anymore, everything comes in pink and neon colors.

Its sad :smh:

Really not into shoes at all anymore. These youngins have lamed this **** out to me. I cop **** I find dope every now and then but I'm not up on every damn release anymore.

We spoke this nonsense into existence back in the day.

"One day watch, Nike & JB will start releasing all these variant colorways like Hata-Takashi and flood the market."

Anyone who was around on EZ Board can recall the projecting and forecasting of where the market would be. It's terrible, but far from big business. Once something becomes commercial, it is usually pimped out into the cash runs dry.

This "fad" for some will end, and those who had true love for the culture will remain.

Checking in...joined January 2001...was on lurking for about a year though before I finally signed up...

I found NT while I was searching for info on the 2001 Space Jam XI retro release.

NT til' death...:nthat:

The game is dead, at least to us. IMO the whole Kobe line sucks, LBJ 11s have taken the LBJ line down hill again, this new KD low line sucks. All these Dorebocher or whatever J's are wack as hell. On top of all the shoes are just too damn espensive nowdays. They literally come out every weekend in all these wild tye dye looking colors.

Hype kills, and that's what definitely happen to the shoe game.

I'd take some Yeezy's tho

This. All of this.

I just come to accept the differences between my generation and the new gen. I feel like my generation was more about individuality, that's why we wanted the kicks, to NOT wear the same thing as everyone else. That's what made it so cool. I guess the purpose got lost in time or something because, it's like the total opposite now. It's like the kids thought it was the actual shoes that made it cool, not the fact you had something different.

This.

haven't bought a pair of jordans in 3 years, haven't bought a fresh pair of nikes in over 4. Usually wear converses or dress shoes now.

may buy a new pair of running shoes soon but, i won't wait online or camp out for a shoe i like and i won't pay over retail

The whole RSVP/BOT thing really killed it for me. It's like human vs machine, just for some damn sneakers :x - I literally have not been able to buy a pair of sneakers since this whole thing came about...

I never included myself in this "sneaker culture"...I just always liked sneakers (Air Max & J's...) and my parents couldn't buy them for me when I was a kid, so when Nike/JB started to retro all of the classics, I had to cop my favorites....Was a huge fan of MJ too, still am...so that was a big part of it too...

I will always have the passion for sneakers. Mostly original colorway J's and classic Air Max's....I wouldn't call it the same passion though...At one point I had damn near 100 pairs of sneakers...Now that I have a wife and baby daughter, my collection is at about 50 pairs and I'm planning on cutting that in half within the next year. Taking every dime I get from them and putting it into an account for my wife and baby girl. I work weekdays and run a metal machine shop, can't wear my nice kicks or they'll be ruined after one wear , so really I can only wear my kicks on the weekends and even then I couldn't possibly wear every pair of kicks that I own.

Animal Thug, I feel ya though, I can't keep up with all of these releases anymore. Literally every weekend Nike/JB is putting something out. Right now the only new release I bought this year have been the 88' Cement III's. Nike is just doing good business. There aren't many companies out there releasing new products every single weekend and them selling out. They are def. taking advantage of this "shoe bubble" and I can't blame them one bit.

Anyways, ill be on NT as long as its here and I only come here for General and S/T really...

Shout out to the NT OG's!!!

I keep asking this in the NT OG Threads: ORINDAHOOPS, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!

Exactly. I wasn't on NT in '02 but my join date here doesn't telly my story of kicks. JS34, you're right it was spoken into existence. I remember when ISS before Steve sold it and there was a blank template of XI's where you can play with the colors and make any combination of colors you wanted. It was way before it's time of terrible colors and patterns. It seems like they let people do that and poop out the worst CW possible for every shoe. I hated the idea of that template. As far as buying kicks, I was into kicks before the internet, blogs, rappers being billboards for free advertising and hype, so all this doesn't affect my love for kicks. That being said, because they switched the format of buying kicks and the inverse relationship of price vs quality, I've slowed down a lot. What I do now is maybe try to cop a second pair to something I already have if I REALLY like a certain shoe and CW. As far as copping things I wish I had, there are very few that I don't have and still want. I'm sickened by how kicks have been mainstreamed, but yet I ask me about kicks and I can literally talk for hours about it. So yeah you right JS34, when it's that real, indeed it doesn't fade.

I remember I came across NT searching for the navy blue low top 9s... Damn it's been a minute

I still love Jordan's.... But I usually only cop OGs nowadays.

The whole rsvp/bot thread is like Chinese to me. All is see is a guy who types in all caps bragging that he gets every release. Chrome extentions, having 5 tabs open, you need 1000MB down/up, trying on your phone, twitter grabbers, man I don't even know what they be talking about.

It's so serious dudes is really upgrading their internet and RAM.
