ACA: Affordable Care Act (better known as OBAMACARE) - Enrollment Starts October 1st - You In?

^ it's not even just insurance. It's how any universal thing works.

I've never had to call anyone out for a fire so I'd like to opt out of that in my city taxes - then if anyone has a fire they should have to pay like $20k.

It's not fair that I have to pay for their fire problems. They should either pay or have insurance.

Obvious question: Why can't we just all chip in a little and have it as a universal benefit?

Obvious answer: So why's that not okay for healthcare then?

Universal healthcare brings enormous economies of scale so the costs can be divided out evenly to everyone - that's the great benefit to those who can afford it. And the benefit to those who can't currently afford it is not having to die in squalor of preventable problems in the richest country in the world.

It's almost a shame our favorite Washington Heights resident is not here to celebrate in the success of the ACA with the 7.1 million enrollees.  If he were here, I'm quite sure he would do the right thing and retract some of his rather negative statements about the ACA and his prediction that the Obama administration would not hit it's projected goal of 7 million sign-ups by the deadline.

Matter of fact, I think he and I had a side bet on that if I'm not mistaken.  Either way, let this be a lesson to those that stand in the way of progress.  Your days are limited, especially him.

Guys that are negging this dont understand how ACA works.

Your not paying for homesless/poor people insurance. Might of fact if you make $0 you actually hve to pay the full price. You get the good prices if your working

Preventative care is now covered No charge

No limits. IF you have say cancer health insurance like to cut you off or limit you after you hit 200k,not anymore. they cannot do that

Pre existing conditions doesnt matter anymore

Rebate checks if you dont use your insurance

There are lots of positives to this. I really dont see any negs to this.

Dude was at the party talking about how he hate ACA and how it is bad, I saw dude, I ask you give me 1 reason why it is bad. HE couldnt even give me 1 answer, just keep saying i dont wan to pay for other people insurance which is not the cas

I hated this whole unviversal health care since Hillary tried to implement in the 90's. The system seems to be set where they tax the healthy to care for the unhealthy.

That's how insurance works brah. ALL INSURANCE :smh:
I'm being taxed for something I never use. The analogy has been said before, but it's like being taxed for car insurance but you don't drive. Now because I'm healthy and young they need me to sign up in order to pay for the sick. If I don't they will penalize me cause I won't pay for something I don't need. I liked the system as it was before, pay for what you need.

What a massive failure the ACA enrollment turned out to be.

Of course I enrolled.

the plans can be in the cart and they would considered you enrolled. so the real question is how many actually finished checking out and paid?

Grasp for those straws brah. Good for you, keep fighting the good fight. :smokin

-That video kdawg posted everyone should watch. America needs a public option

what about the ones that lost their health insurance because of ACA? yea gubmint math is funny like that cause they like to disregard things that make them look bad

Lucky you, hosted a party last week and AHCA came up and one person said they don't want/like it because you have to be "chipped" and another said they don't want anything from "him".

Mind you these are adults over 30 with kids and are working class poor. Thought I stepped into bizzaro world. Plus my state turned down the federal $$ so when people look at their options they could be paying more than they are used too. Of course, it's Obama's fault.

Also what about all the people that have signed up but yet havent payed their premiums. Imo that number is widly inflated unless that number is for those that pay not just sign up

Smh. Brah you making yourself look foolish

That is how taxation works. You pay into the pool, some things help you some don't. Non drivers pay to support roads you drive on, people that never had kids pay taxes to fund schools you went to, If you got student loans, etc, etc, etc.

The system was broken before, both sides agreed on that. The ACA's was modeled after a Republican solution to the problem btw.

Everyone talking that "I'm young and healthy" steez until they become young and sick. Same way everyone is a great driver, why I need insurance, until they get into an accident. Or "my house won't burn down, I'm careful" so they opt to not pay a small tax then they are left watching the house burn to the ground while the fire department refuses to put it out. Stuff happens B

And they now have tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills. Which leads to other crappy outcomes.

"Pay for what you need" good luck with that. People really don't understand what's going on in the real world.

Man what is wrong with you? Can you read?  Typical hater

This is exactly why the Associated Press Stated 7 million SIGNUPS!

So I ask, how is it inflated?

Your reaching but your arm is only 2 feet

Nope dont watch fox news Im too busy working most nights. I would love to see some data about how many people are actually paying for the insurance they signed up for through obamacare or how many of those previously uninsured patients are now insured. How many of those patients are people who signed up for Obamacare because their old plan no longer qualified.

Anyway back to work when I get home tonight I may give you guys some reasons why ACA is bad for patients, physicians and hospitals but then again I may not because I have gone over this before.

Sign up = People who selected a insure plan through the ACA. That is not the same as people who actually paid their premiums.

This

Kentucky's poor benefited greatly from the law. And they will still vote for dudes whose major talking point will be repelling the ACA |I

So there is no way, that when the administration did it's estimates, with all those analysis, that one of them did account for such a thing.

I'm sue there is no way :rolleyes

The real question are how many of those are are young previously uninsured peoples. As we all know that demographic is lynchpin of

The Republicans of the past of are not the same Republicans of the present. Ideologies have changed since then. At one point the Republicans of yesteryear were pretty much the same as contemporary Republicans. An a lot of people considered liberal Dems in the past would look like contemporary conservatives.

The ever expanding power of the federal government, the absorption of many of the functions that states and cities once considered to be responsibilities of their own, must now be a source of concern to all those who believe as did the great patriot, Henry Grattan that: “Control over local affairs is the essence of liberty.”
I’d be very happy to tell them I’m not a liberal at all…I’m not comfortable with those people

-John F. Kennedy-

So the whole idea about ACA being a Republican idea holds no water. As far as people waiting until they get sick or have a car crash to cry for insurance this all boils down to the beauty of free will and personal responsibility. Those people made a CHOICE to forgo insurance. A choice that has been systematically stripped from them over the last few decades. I have said this before but in 2014 we are less free than we were when were born. From what you post, it seems like you have no problem with this at all. You are blinded by your ideology and cynicism about human nature. It seems as if you don't believe that people are smart enough to make their own decisions in regards to what they need so the government should just tell them. That is a nanny state, and if that is what you abdicate then perhaps Europe would be a better fit for you. In America you either rise or fall and that should be solely based on your own choices.

Exactly! I was just going to say this.. people dont want the health care until they are on their death table with their kids on their side wishing they would have signed up..

You can get in a bad accident that requires critical care services, but hospital refuses you have no insurance.. I bet your wishing you signed up now

Sign up = People who selected a insure plan through the ACA. That is not the same as people who actually paid their premiums.
yea and??? My point is that we ACA stated 7 million signups which you tried to hate and say that number is inflated because some is signups. They are all signups.. Yes some did or did not pay their prem yet but that isnt the point here
