As many of you already know, the Huddler platform was a great fit for us, in part, because it's geared towards product-oriented communities.  When the system's at its best, you'd be able to click on a product name and see all related forum topics, classified listings, and reviews, along with a price comparison from various online stores.  We can also include some of this information in different modules in the forums themselves.  The goal is to save everyone the time and frustration of having to search all over the site when we can, instead, gather everything in one place.

One of the challenges we've encountered is that it's difficult to get access to product prices and information from all of the trustworthy independent sellers out there - and with the prevalence of fakes on eBay we've opted not to include them in our system.

Amazon has recently emerged as an interesting option.  In the old days, sneaker fans wouldn't even bother searching for, say, a Jordan Retro on Amazon as they simply didn't stock it.  While they still don't sell high end Nike/Jordan shoes directly, more and more independent sneaker sites, like JMSneakers, are becoming Amazon affiliates.  So, when you search for a sneaker on Amazon, you essentially search all of their affiliates' inventory systems as well.

We want to make NikeTalk more useful for you.  At the moment, we only have Eastbay product prices in the system - and it's designed to offer a comparison, not to promote a single outlet.  It's actually very easy for us to include Amazon as well, but before we take that step I wanted to get your thoughts on the subject.

Have you ever purchased shoes from Amazon?  If so, how was your experience?  Do you believe that they're screening their affiliates effectively?

Let us know what you think.

I would do it as long as the prices are good for me, I don't see a problem buying shoes from amazon.

i have before and it was fine-- but it was directly through amazon, not a 3rd party seller.

I have before and everything was fine. It's just the same as any order from Amazon, but since they are third parties and not directly from Amazon, you (the consumer) don't benefit from the free shipping Amazon usually offers for orders over a certain amount.

Never even considered Amazon. Always bought off forums or ebay. As long as its more secure then great

Bought my desert boots from amazon, forgot if it was through them or a third prty seller.

No problems over here. Im down.

No problem with it as well. If it's a 3rd party seller, never hurts to do some homework as well.

The markup on Amazon for shoes is ridiculous, the worst I've seen. I've searched for sneakers a few times on there.

Whether the shoes were legit or not was never a concern of mine I trust Amazon in that regard and I guess that's why you pay more.

Amazon has long been a secret source for me.  Last deal I got was the XI low IE and Cardinal VII for 89 bucks each, but now all you see is ebay prices..

With that said I have no problem purchasing through Amazon.

Just a different outlet to get an item, it shouldn't be a problem.

The only people who are against Amazon that I know of are book publishers, and the reason being is Amazon cuts out many potential buyers.

Amazon is a large reason why books stores nationwide have shut down.

Never bought shoes off Amazon. Always at Nike Town, Nike.com, Eastbay, or eBay

i got a great deal on some stan smiths via ambazon..

Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone!

I'm gonna keep it 100:  I was asked to evaluate this Thursday and, when I looked, I came across a new seller who was listing Galaxy Foams for $300.  I went to check out the seller's store page and they only sold two things:  rare sneakers and Beats headphones.  All items shipped from China.  I was ready to pull the plug on this right then.  I wouldn't even have bothered you all with it.  The very next day, I checked back and that seller was gone and all of their listings showed "currently unavailable."

I've been told that Amazon has a first rate dispute system and that they are more active and aggressive in vetting their affiliates than, say, eBay is with their sellers.  That said, we all know there are power sellers dealing in counterfeits on eBay with very high feedback ratings, simply because the average consumer can't easily differentiate real from fake.

That's why it was so important to me to hear from you all on this.

Based on your feedback, I'm leaning toward at least giving them a 14 day trial and we can see how things go.

Cool with buying shoes from Amazon.

As long as those parasites from the bot thread don't write up an Amazon bot.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I was curious what others thought. Just started to realize there are a lot of retros sold on Amazon by 3rd party vendors.

Amazon prime Member here! I love ordering from them. Only had one order never show, I let Amazon know then was refunded quickly. I would order from them!
