What are you looking for. For one example the mission and the marina couldn't be more different, Polk St is distinct too.

You could even do Polk, make your way to Broadway and Polk and even take a cab to North Beach or more down to Marina.

Best talent. Easy to meet chicks. Small lil strip so its options in close proximity.
I live on the embarcadero and go to the marina randomly for safeway, food, and apple store.
Completely out the way but its worth it. Nice places to eat and chill for happy hour.
Polk is too young and collegey
Mission is too grungy
Downtown is too hood
Im speaking in terms of the talent BTW.

All personal preference, for me the Marina is waaaaaaaay too stuck up to frequent on a regular basis. I'll go to Eastside West when my boy is bartending but I don't even feel like dealing with the Marina more than once or twice a season

polk is decent, but thats where most of the 2-3 years out of undergrad folks go.
marina is super white and bro-ey if you like that.
mission is fun, but can be ghetto at times depending where you are in the mission.
i'd say i prefer mission or polk.

Yes....all preference. I just hopped around Polk and it wasn't too collegey. Marina I can only stomach in doses as well. Just not my kind of crowd. Most folks who live there aren't even from the Bay Area. Not that SF is full of only locals but Marina is just full of people from cities that I hate like LA, Sac, Walnut Creek, etc.
Missions is far from ghetto now, aside from the music. You just get the low key cheap folks there since they never have covers.
