"It made me cry to think a pretty girl like her would pick something like that . . . "

Props to the dude at the other table that stepped in :pimp:
Old vid, still not surprising. Thats how those old people were brought up so the hate is rooted deeply inside of them.

Are we going to have another 10+ page thread on this topic?

The best part about these threads is when the mods come in and clean up.

What does he mean by trying to stop being like THAT group? He talks about the black because of the way he spoke and saying he was effeminate. What does he mean by separate yourself from your oppressor? Is he in favor of self segregation

I think the point he was trying to make is that blacks have a tendency to turn a blind eye to the atrocities of the past because it's more convenient to do so rather than to acknowledge it and not let it be forgotten by the rest of the country. Many go by the book and try to assimilate in a country that still views them as "that" "colored" or any other word that can be used to perpetuate their undesirability or differentness. I think he was trying to say "stop trying to fit in with those that don't want you as part of their group; instead, acknowledge your differentness and carve out your own lane/identity... Then have them accept and respect you for it."

I agree with him to an extent. Some of the things he said was painfully obvious if you took a moment to pay closer attention to the world around you. Where I find fault with him, and many other black activists for that matter, is that there's never a sense of establishing what the "call to action is". It's as if they get everyone riled up and make people think unconventionally, and have no course of action. Often times I myself end up saying "okay, I've learned my history... I see that there is great inequalities and injustice in the nation I live... I understand that black people as a whole don't have the proper understanding of 'self' necessary to foster substantial change... I've tried to encourage my people to 'wake up'... Now what?"

you dumb as hell if you believe racism is going to die with them old folks.
it is though...racism ain't out there unless it's old white people.

statistics say 98% of white people from 18 to 40 aren't racist.
My guy I know you're a lot smarter than that. You a good dude but you need to wait and experience the world we live in more.

Yes to the first question. Second one certain family members have but she deaded it.

Her dad has adjusted after getting to know me and seeing I'm not one of these young world star ****** but she and I both let him know I will check him and whoever else if I need to.

what can you say about (many) old white people that hasn't already been said? they're our parents, our grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc - yeah we love em and all, but they're still terrible people. they really are

the excuse "oh they're from a different time" - yeah, ok, but they keep perpetuating that kind of mentality by passing it onto their kids, grandkids, etc and using some sort of excuse, as in the case of one of those old wombats - "i just feel for the kids who get bullied in school" bs - to keep pushing that agenda

i mean you can say that the younger generations are more tolerant, but what does it mean to be "tolerant" anyway? we should be striving for and demanding full acceptance. i know, utopia given the history of this country and the nature of "some" people, but there really is no way to rationalize the words coming out of those two old broads' mouths whether it's them or someone younger saying and thinking the same thing. being old is no damn excuse and probably even worse in my opinion since it's those generations, which lived comfortably during that time and actually profited in so many ways at the expense of black people and other so-called "minorities (hate that word)

ain't no damn thing as post racial. give that concept a rest

It's life. Old folks, embed it in their children, & their children implant it in their children. It's a lot better now, but folks will always be prejudice. Black folks are hate themselves. Universally the Europeans let it be known that; white is right. We have been conditioned to believe that white is right, its pretty deep...facial features, skin tone, the way people speak.. etc. What the "good" black civil rights activist try to do is get black folks to love one another & embrace being black; when they see us doing well, then they(white folks) will look at us differently.

I never said racism is dying with those old folks buddy. What I said was we should focus on the youth and make sure that those racist, ignorant idealogies don't pass onto the youth. Will they? I'm sure some will. And I'm sure there will be racists 50, 100, 200 years from now.

What I'm saying is instead of focusing our energy on old people who don't mean **** why don't we focus our energy on the babies and children of this world.
