His Airness says he could beat Lebron in his prime...not sure about Kobe

Jordan stays taking shots at Bron
I actually think he's taken more shots at Kobe over the years. The only shot I can really remember him taking was him saying that he'd crush Lebron mentally very easily.

Money is my guy, but he's losing it.

Lebron is posting up dudes bigger than him, what the hell do you think he would do to you at your playing weight on 195-200lbs.?

Reading the full article, Lebron said "Where he say this at? Oh, it was for my game? It's good promotion then."

This is funny to me considering MJ has already been on 2 covers after retirement and this is his first one.

MJ who is probably the best one on one player ever saying he could beat one of the most complete TEAM players ever... Sounds about right. Nothing new here

mj would definitely be able to get in lebron's head more than kobe's

dude needs to shut up tho

But let's be real, Lebron has one on one capabilities. He's literally the most physically gifted athlete ever in basketball.

And we know Mike is bitter, he has to live with that, not us. Considering how he is as a person, I hope it does bother him every day. In the scheme of life, he does need to let it go. Your time has passed, you can do nothing about it now, but for the sake of sport conversation you can go on and on about it.

lmaooo but the funny thing is..what does he have to be bitter about? He's won everything you can win, done everything you can do, built a gymshoe empire, made hundreds of millions, did a movie with bugs ******g bunny, has a ****** cologne and guys across the world wearing his drawls and people still agree he's the great ever...I don't get his issue....y u mad 4 mike?

It's just mindless fun trash talk. MJ can say these things to kobe because he's influenced him so much. MJ has given tips to kob from the beginning and MJ put the blueprint out how to be the goat and kobe took it and put his own flavor to it.

It would benefit James on the defensive end.
But like Jordan said, he's use to playing through contact so it's nothing new. Lebron on the other hand would struggle to score against a guy who is hand checking him and playing him physical.
Not sure if you are arguing with me, or just restating what is assumed by most.  The physical game of the 80s and 90s would benefit Bron on the defensive end, but not on the offensive end....like whoever I quoted was inferring.

You'd be surprised. It's the one thing he isn't #1 at right now. So this is him mentally assuring himself that he (in theory) could still be #1. He sells out retros, so his brand is competitive and at the top, so he could chirp about that in comparison to Lebron. He literally can't do that on the court right now. So talking is the next best thing. He has a disease, it's called competitiveness. At some point in life you have to let it go in order to enjoy life. I'm a fan of his game and think he's the GOAT, but as a person he disgusts me. I still think about his HOF speech. What he said and did was completely unnecessary and petty, but that's who he is. Like he did as as player, he finds anything to motivate him and he goes on that.

Honestly, I think Carmelo and Durant both have a better shot at beating MJ than Lebron. Lebron is the best in the game right now but he is not known as a 1 on 1 player.

Clearly you havent seen the ECF from 2007 when he went for 25 straight to close the game

oh yea ur right, that was 1 on 5!

MJ saying this is just his new way of competing.

He wants to make sure his legacy will always be looked at as better than Lebrons, so he takes little jabs at him whenever he can.

But him doing this all of the time has me thinking in the back of his mind MJ is nervous, because he knows Lebron is a legitimate threat as contender for the GOAT

Anybody that doesn't recognize MJ's intentions when he makes these sort of comments is an idiot.

And you've got to be real dumb to think that MJ can guard LeBron and that LeBron can't guard MJ in a game of 1-on-1. It wouldn't even be fair.

Whatever his intentions are this is still getting old. This dude is gonna be 60 years old talkin bout "In my prime, I could take Andrew Wiggins." ESPN needs to stop feeding his ego.

I think some of ya'll have a very ill-conceived notion of the dynamics of 1-on-1 basketball. Some of you guys are mentioning the era they play in, which is barely relevant. Others of you are mentioning 1-on-1 but you're still comparing their abilities within the confines of a TEAM game. Unquestionably, within the confines of a team game, MJ is the best 1 on 1 player. LeBron is a superior 1-on-1 player but not on MJ's level. HOWEVER, when you look at things from the true 1-on-1 perspective, as in, nobody in front of the rim or on the court but you and your opponent, there is a stark difference. Within a team game, even in an iso situation you aren't alone. There's weakside defense to worry about. Hell there's spacing to worry about. It affects what moves you do and what choices you make. MJ was a master of manipulating these aspects and getting to where he wanted to be when he wanted to be there. True 1-on-1 the only issue is the person in front of you. While this provides an advantage for MJ, I believe it provides a BIGGER advantage for LeBron. LeBron's size and strength would become magnified while MJ's skills would remain pretty much on par. MJ isn't out-rebounding LeBron, if they play with rebounds. And MJ isn't out-muscling LeBron. If LeBron were smart he'd muscle his way to the rim every time and finish strong.  Whether its backing him in or straight-line drives to the rim. No jumpers, no fadeaways, none of that. So to think that Bron couldn't beat MJ is weird to me. If its hard to stop the guy with 5 players on the court, wth is one guy going to be able to do? Truth be told, any player at the skill level of an MJ, Bron, or Kobe, or even AI, prime T-Mac, etc can't be guarded 1-on-1 completely. The winners would be determined by the matchup (as someone in here mentioned) and who best exploits their strengths. MJ is a superior on ball defender but 1-on-1 against the worlds elite on-ball defense is not what some of ya'll think it is. These guys are too talented and there's too much room to operate.

With that being said, I think MJ would win if they played. Bron would probably shoot jumpers instead of bull-rushing his way to the rim.
