I know the knicks have been bad this year, but Carmelo Anthony has been really good this year man. 28.0 ppg and over 8 boards a game in a fairly efficient fashion (45%). That's remarkable, considering the circumstances, and is leading the league in minutes and has helped the Knicks win 12 of their last 15 to get them in the playoffs right now. Think that there's something to be said about the season he's having.

Melo hasn't slacked a minute this season. Every game he puts forth effort. Has even made strides defensively (not that he was ever as bad on defense as some have made him out to be). It's really a shame the same can't be said for the rest of the team. Knicks should have been no worse than a 5th seed.

Larry Sander's fall from grace continues.

Just about everything's gone bad for him since he signed his extension.

crazy how the Knicks and ATL are both 10 games under .500 and are fighting for the 8th seed in the East while Dallas, Memphis and Phx are 13-14 games over .500 fighting for the 8th seed in the west. :smh:

Agreed. Coming from someone who gave Melo all the grief in the world the last couple seasons too.

So I haven't watched much of him this year but is it just an effort thing or a "****** team around me" thing?

I agree, but what if I told you, he's pretending to do this to get a contract and bounce? Dudes always ball out during a contract year. It's surprising, but not really

I'm still not a Melo "fan", but I don't have any complaints at the end of the season. He's out there doing everything he can.. that's all I can ask.

It really doesn't even have to do with basketball.

Fool is getting into bar fights and smoking weed.

It's a "can't even get on the court after signing a huge extension" thing.

He just got suspended 5 games for violating the drug policy.

You say that as if his performance is outside of the realm of what he's normally capable of lol. He's right on pace for where a player of his caliber at this point in his career should be maturing to. This isn't an anomaly spurred by a contract year.

Did you not read my very last sentence? It implied exactly what you said

But he played almost equally as well last year when we won 50+. Melo been playing like this not just a contract year thing

So you're agreeing with what Rav is saying?
For me, yeah. With what I said to clarify, what I was trying to say is that this season isn't really much different from any other Carmelo year, so he's par for the course. Now, you'd have a better case arguing that his style of play doesn't make his team better. His individual output is the same whether his team is 50+ wins as a 2 seed as it is on a team that's damn near -20 in the win column the following year.

The only thing that might be different is his efficiency. He's shooting a better percentage from the field.

As trying as this year has been for the Knicks, this has been Melo's best year as a pro. Can't fault him for effort or anything that he brought to the table. Son was out there giving 110% from day 1 of the season.

I read it. You can't say "it's surprising" as a qualifier to everything else you said, and then just tag on "but not really."
