Tales of Kevin McHale’s Hilarious ‘Coaching’

by Marcel Mutoni

As if Minnesota T-Wolves fans hadn’t suffered enough, but now the guy from the front-office who absolutely botched the last, oh, decade and some, is in charge of leading the troops into battle from the sidelines.

If you’re expecting things to improve, I’d like you first to listen to Anthony Carter’s stories, a man who played for coach McHale a few years ago.

From the Rocky Mountain News:

“It was a learning experience,” said Carter. “He didn’t really know all the X’s and O’s, but he had a good assistant coaching staff that was helping him out with a lot of plays. He kind of let us run whatever we wanted.”

“He was trying to draw plays, and it was like a little Etch and Sketch. Like a kid just messing around… He just gave the clipboard to the assistant coaches sometimes.”

Why do I get the feeling this is precisely the same way that Michael Jordan runs the Bobcats?

McHale, who Etch-A-Sketched his way to the first of many losses last night, will attempt to prove to Anthony Carter and the rest of the Nuggets that he can actually draw a play all by himself tonight in Denver.

As for you Wolves fans, you poor bastards, better hope the assistant coaches bought extra markers. It could be a long rest of the season.

He's not rebounding, defending, passing, or creating his own shot like Melo so no. Such a strawman argument. All Jimmer can do at an NBA level is shoot, is he also comparable to Melo?

Let's get the context of what I said right. I didn't say McDermott was better than Melo, just he has the "all he can do is score" knock. You just compared him to Jimmer? You haven't watched McDermott play. His offense is lethal all around. He can score in the post and mid range plus shoot the 3. He also averages 7 boards a game. He's better than Jimmer. Melo can grab boards but don't sit up here and fake like Melo is some great passer or defender.

Pretty crazy. Even if the Celtics did challenge him with fat 6'8" dudes and Olynyk.

Edit: Oh, and Humphries.

I would love to know what those numbers look like for other huge rebound games.

McHale

Proof that just because you're a great player doesn't mean you're a great all around basketball mind

I've never seen a player who can handle the ball like that and such a deadly shooter :x

I'm very fortunate to get to see him play daily

Given the come-back situation and knowing Lil Steph was going to pull that 3 given how much of a heater he was on coupled with his reaction after was dope as hell. :pimp: :pimp: :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Best off-the-dribble shooter I've ever seen. I can't think of any players -- current or past -- that have hit 3s off the bounce as consistently as Steph does it.

 I always shake my head and laugh when they show clips of him coaching in the huddle. He sounds so corny and unconvincing, you can tell the players don't really respect him like that.

"C'mon guys, you can do it!!"

Will someone add the Super Saiyon hair to Curry from that video?
laugh.gif
too slim for super saiyan , he is more like of a frieza

Hilarious to me that people act like the Clippers have some long history of getting beat in the 1st round. Since CP and Blake have been on the team it happened once, when Griffin got injured and couldn't play the last 2 games of the series. Could it happen? Yeah. But to act like history says it will happen is not based in reality.
that one time equals 50% of the time CP3 and Blake have been on the team

yep the guy with 2 MVPS > ball handler than curry. That methodical soccer player type elusiveness as opposed to faster first step/crossover. That's just how I see it

Right. But that also means 50% of the time they've gotten past the first round. So that's a pretty meaningless way to look at it.
no, when you have a Point God and a PF like Blake Griffin, they should always get out of the first round.
