Whether or not you think that the Pelicans made missteps in their rebuilding process, they have who they have now. And it is a capable group now, with plenty of upside.

This is a .500+ team today, if not wildly decimated by injuries.

Davis has missed eight games.

Anderson - 44
Holiday - 32
Evans - 9
Gordon - 4
Smith - 35

Six best players, 132 combined missed games. It happens to all teams, but not usually like that. And when you're one of the most inexperienced teams in the league to begin with, bottoming out is pretty inevitable.

They've still managed to be an average-to-above offensive team. Inexplicably bad on defense when you consider Davis, Aminu and Evans (and Holiday for a period of time), but it's widely-speculated to be because of Monty Williams' impossibly-executed defensive schemes. There is no other reason why they should be one of the worst in the league in that area, injuries or not.

It won't have happened the way anyone really expected it to, but this should still be a team that matters soon.

Adrian Wojnarowski did a nice article on Giannis Antetokounmpo

Dope read. Pretty awesome to see someone actually valuing the incredible fortune of playing in the NBA. Wish him all the best of luck man.

However, in watching quite a few bucks games this year, I just don't see him ever living up to his lofty potential. I don't know if he'll ever become an elite level player. He can become awesome defensively, but the other side of the ball is where I have an issue. I don't think he'll ever be a good enough shot creator and playmaker to be an elite or even an all star level talent. He has a real hard time dribbling the ball and right now he's a transition monster, but that's about it. That could change obviously, but stuff like that normally doesn't.

I hope it does though, i'm a fan. I hope he becomes all world. He certainly has the attitude that warrants it.

a two year contract that still allows you to remain a playoff team isn't crippling though... Joe Johnson is crippling, Gilbert arenas crippling, Rashard Lewis crippling,... Kobe's contract is a two year stop gap in which they have planned there cap around and as of today will have a FULL salary cap. You guys are acting as if they traded away all their picks and signed him to a 5 year deal.

He's going to be great :pimp:

1st team defender in a few years and I love his feel for the game, can't believe he's going to be 7 feet plus, definitely going to be able to guard KD/Paul George/Lebron.

Don't see how he plays video games with those hands though

Just a way for Kobe to tell top dollar guys not to take less than their value based on the cba. I can understand why he did it..

Even though he took a lil less, I think at max those 2 years could've got him close to 70 million.

Giannis is cool

Nice for Woj that he finally found someone that meets his high character standards ... :rolleyes That aside, Giannis does seem like a very good dude.

Lamb's biggest problem is he can't get past his defender off the dribble. It's why his fg% is so up and down. He started the season off hot though when him and RJ were tearing through teams and he was looking like 50/40/90 candidate. But he has fallen way back down to Earth and Brooks insistence on 2pg lineups also forces him to play lots of 3 where teams have been just abusing him in the post on D. Doesn't help he has a coach who prefers vets and Caron comes right in and is gifted 20+ minutes despite being pretty terrible in every measurable stat since he has been here from basic +/- to RAPM to eye test. Lamb will just have to play his way out of it, if he has it in him which I am not sure he does. He basically got jumped in the rotation for a small 4 ni PJ3 and then a rookie in Roberson took that starting spot because he at least plays hard, defends, and rebounds. Some people think he has a Kerry Kittles type upside.
lamb should be the starter with westbrook (or reggie) and KD.. to provide spacing..

brooks wants him to be that harden type player for the bench, when he's just not that type of player who can initiate the offense and basically be a hybrid guard.. which i feel is a better roll for reggie, let him play with and without westbrook (so the main 6th man and backup to both PG and SG spots)

and depending on the game is how you use roberson and pj3.. but im not a fan of starting PJ3 as the SG.. and roberson needs to work on corner 3s

but as you said lamb doesnt hold up against 3s

Kobe aint tryna win another ring... He wouldn't have taken that contract if he did.

Random thing I noticed today... KG has been in the L 1995... since before Pac died...

Dude been playing since I was in diapers :wow:

Old as dirt b.
still remember seeing him on the jaime foxx episode
