His willingness to be coached by Pop has to be a big reason why almost everyone who comes there falls in line almost immediately. People often think of leadership as the vocal guy, the demonstrative guy always challenging his teammates, but the fact the your best player, almost never ever does something stupid or selfish.

It is an invaluable quality.
