The opposite actually, crosstown rivalry and superiority/inferiority complexes make it that fans of one team hate/look down on the other team and their fans. In a laker fan in LA and trust me laker fans have had a major superior/arrogant attitude towards the clippers for a long time.

I'm rooting for whoever comes out of the east. I want to hear fans of westerns conference teams cry how the east was a easier road and the west beat each other up. I will fill bottles with those tears. West always better but the trophy remains in the eastern time zone.
