See that's just wrong  again I ask you how can someone average 31 a game with an identical record as shaq, NOT BE WORTHY OF THE MVP

historically weak EC or not, when you do that you are more than worthy of the MVP. Should shaq have gotten it? Maybe. Over A.I.? That's for sure debatable. His team came four wins short of 60. Like I said, Shaq was deserving, but that doesn't mean A.I. wasn't
yeah you can't yada yada that away.

in that historically weak east they went to 7 games twice. but noooo AI is the MVP. were within a vince carter jumpshot of not even making it to the finals. but 39%, 30 shots a game is the MVP.

ridiculous.

\Let me ask you a question. This will tell me everything I need to know about this.

The eastern conference that year alone makes A.I. unworthy of the MVP award?

no 2001 east team would have gotten past the second round in the west
So if Lebron wins the MVP this year its diluted to a degree because he plays in a historically bad eastern conference?
i wouldnt think so, the MVP is for the best player in the league (or the player that had the best year)

i would say the best record in the east is diluted to a degree when compared to the best record in the west because of how bad the east is

but not the MVP

no

his performance in comparison to his peers, taking into account the quality of the competition and his overall impact on both sides of the court is not close to Shaquille O'neal's overall performance.

not close, not within a hair, nothing, not even a little.

ill leave it at that.

Shaq was dominant but he had a huge flaw in his game, thats why Kobe always gets brought up even though Shaq was so dominant....Kobe completed him

If thats the case kobe shouldve had 4 straight mvps 05-08 if its all about overall performance

wut

for you guys it was a young up and coming team with a lot of talent, which is different than the hawks making the first round for the 8th straight year with a bunch of average joes

This. The Raptors don't have anything close to a Durant or Westbrook type talent. If they don't shake up that roster, they're going to be nothing better than decent for years. With OKC, everyone knew that first playoff appearance was just the start of something.

He's saying the Kobe was the best player during the period.

His individual performances were incredible

This is just so wrong to me man  and i'll leave it at this.

When someone puts up 31 a game on a 56 win team they are generally the MVP of the NBA. Them being worthy of the award goes without saying. The conference that the player is playing in means little in this regard because at the end of the day, THEY HAD THE BEST RECORD IN THE EAST AND HE AVERAGED 31 A GAME  . Like I said, under any circumstance that is MVP caliber stuff.

sucks not having NBA games on today

But very few teams can even get a Westbrook or Durant like talent.

Being Decent >>>>Living in the cellar and hoping to land a player in the draft that can change a franchise.

Maybe. It depends to some extent on the franchise, the city and the expectations. I'm sure Lakers fans would prefer the team sucking for 1 or 2 years and then maybe getting championship level talent, then being a middle-of-the-road playoff team, with no real chance of winning the championship, for a decade.

look at the clippers, they got drafted blake and paired him up with CP3. without blake, cp3 wont agree to get traded to the clippers.

because they have up and coming young talent, the clippers 2nd round exit last year is something to build on so its a "good" playoff exit

the 06 clippers that lost in the 2nd round with brand and kaman didnt really have anything to build on and they were not getting any better so it was a "bad" playoff exit

Well that's because they are the lakers  every offseason they actually can (and have) land a franchise changing talent, and they don't have to build through the draft to do so.

Most teams in the league can't do that. Most teams in order to become better than mediocre have to hit a home run in the draft, and then try and build around that. The issue there is that hitting a home run in the draft is essentially luck driven.
