nahhh B i dont hate kobe!!!!!!!!! thats my guy.

i think its just very obvious that IF HE CARED about winning above all, and his legacy, he MIGHT HAVE taken maybe 18 mil, or 16...

i do question what he values more......i mean lebron isnt the highest paid on HIS OWN TEAM and hes been the best player on the planet.

He takes 16 or 18 this year and what do the Lakers do? sign Kevin Love and another decent mid tier guy?... that doesn't win LA a championship still, dudes are talkin as if Melo & Lebron were heading here automatically if Kobe took less.... there is NOBODY hitting FA this year who is taking this team to the championship, so i'm not getting how he's ruining this season. L.a can still put together a playoff team for the next two seasons and build towards making moves for 2016.

Taking Kobe full salary for two years> signing K.Love, Deng, Lowry for multiple years and ruining chances of landing a real game changer in the near future.

Thats good enough for anyone else. Kobe want more than 6.

Lakers ain't going to be contenders for at least another 3 years, he ain't getting 6, it's about $$$ now.

Kobe going to be getting a check from the Lakers after he's retired anyway as a "consultant"

As a player, I don't have an issue with taking every penny you can get.

I know for a fact the owners are money grubbing pricks, squeezing the blood out of everyone for their own pockets, so I get why Kobe would take what he can get, I really do.

But if he really, truly, wanted to, he could have taken so much less, and tried to get these last 2-3 years of his career to get to "Horry" numbers. Not Russell, but Horry.

Clearly 5 is good enough, his career will always be one of the best we've ever seen, but he could have done a few things, if he'd only been smart enough to take less money.

He's going to be the highest paid player in the NBA, at the age of 37.

That, is bad business on the Lakers' part. :smh:

Kobe wants more than just that 6th ring. He wants to own a team. He wants his kids to be rich. If he already has enough for that, he wants his grandkids to be rich.

Exactly.
Maybe as much as he'd like a 6th ring, hes realizing his careers almost a wrap so he has to prepare for after basketball.

Kobe's already said there is NO chance he's going to be coaching. So he might be stacking as much as he can to invest in other businesses when he retires.

Maybe he wants to own a team. Maybe he wants to own an island. Who knows. But maybe his interests in life go beyond winning a 6th ring. Who can hate that? As much as basketball has been life to Kobe, basketballs coming to an end.

You can't beat Father Time.
So he's probably thinking ahead right now.

But again, as a laker fan. It sucks, really badly.

Who gives a **** about making the playoffs?

We could make the playoffs without paying 23 and 25 million to one guy, so what good is it to pay him?

Although we haven't expressed similar words on this topic I think were on the same page.

I agree with all of that.

I feel you on this one man, I feel you.

As a man I Can't be mad at Kobe.
But I can be disappointed as a fan. And I am.

Laker fans should never be mad or depressed ...EVER

spoiled little girls.

True.

Kobe luring another superstar. K.

Not saying that it would have happened.

More money for the Lakers doesn't automatically mean the stars are gonna come out.

But that doesn't mean they should just throw the money at Kobe.

Save it for a rainy day. Who knows what's on the forecast.

i agree, but theres a difference between finish 10th in the west and missing the playoffs....or getting a 4-6 seed and maybe going to the second round.

if it is the former, its just going to become a retirement circus ...

and im a kobe fan

From the owners perspective........ that 3 billion dollar TV contract they just scooped up... those Jersey sales they will keep getting, the Lakers name flashing in all those Nike ads, etc etc at this point they are paying that difference for Kobe the brand more than kobe the Player.

My point is either with his contract or w/o this team wasn't going to be a contender for another 2-3 years at least. Once dwight Left they pretty much knew that so why not lock Kobe up and let him finish his career with you squad and stack money in the meantime. whether Kobe is Playing Great or is horrid on the court people are going to tune in, ESPN is gonna put them on everywhere, the point is people are going to care about the Lakers and focus on them as long as they have a polarizing player like Kobe on the squad.

Had they mortgaged the future long term i would be upset but it's two years on a team that at max was gonna be playoff bound. so from the owner's perspective two years of mediocre lakers with Kobe is a lot more profitable than mediocre Lakers w/o

Man, there really is a lack of reason and rationality around here sometimes when it comes to Griffin. Makes a whole lot of sense for guy who's having the best year of his life on a team with title aspirations to get into a fight for that sake of his ... reputation? Right. Basically, I think its pretty ridiculous for grown men who are millionaires to be fighting at all. I you have a lot to lose, fighting is dumb. Period. But what do I know? I'm from the suburbs.

And as far as what Blake said, he couldn't win with some of you guys no matter what was reported. If he said ***** to O'neal, it would have been, "man, Blake don't really want it with JO, he was just being fake tough because he knows nobody was going to let them fight anyway."

Maybe you say this because you are a clipper fan.

The guy doesnt have to go fighting players. just show a little backbone every now and then.

Dont run your mouth and make it personal and then when a player comes to check you on your trash talk plead to "leave it onthe court"

He would have never gotten this reputation of being a ***** if he just stood up for himself in the first place.

Can you explain why all these players always wanna bully him? And dont say because they are jealous because they are all nba players getting paid.

kobe's contract was a bad business decision. the fact that no negotiations were made already tells you who is at fault. kobe absolutely deserves that money for what he has done, but from a business standpoint, you do not offer 40% of your cap just like that.
