I'm all in favor of improving the d league and making it an actual viable destination for players aspiring to be Pros. Increase the pay, and make it an actual minor league not the abandoned little brother of the NBA.

I look at guys like Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Mike Beasley, Greg Oden, Eric Gordon, Renardo Sidney, etc. guys who were clearly targeted by the NBA and guys who knew they would be playing in the NBA very soon. What are legit NBA prospects going to gain by going to college? They were all as NBA ready as they were going to get, why make them go to an institution that they not only don't need, but wouldn't even use if it wasn't mandated.

$$$

Its good for everybody except the kids.

Its disgusting.
money for who doe? This ish is stupid....I swear if this passes...i don't know what I'm going to do, but I'll be mad

nobody is stopping them from getting an education.

if you remember very few guys came out straight from high school, only elite prospects or guys who couldn't qualify, and if you look at the history, high school guys were more reliable picks than college
kids.

why force them to get a fake education that they don't need, and also doesn't develop NBA skills.

I guess I'll add one more aspect, which is to allow HS kids that didn't get drafted to come back to college.

I think if a prospect wants to go pro, he should be allowed to, but not every prospect is ready from get-go. Right now in NBA, even if you do get drafted, if you can't show your stuff within first few years, you are usually out of the league. D-league system will help fix this problem.

When they don't get drafted, their career goes downhill and forgotten pretty quickly. They can't go to college for further opportunity in basketball or other career. Being allowed to go back to school will help this.

Then, for kids that chose college from the get-go, they at least get a fall-back option when their pro bball career doesn't pan out.

If you think college education is fake, then I dunno what more to say, but for majority of normal people, college education is to cement their career. I dunno why it should be different for the NBA prospects.

BTW, for the records, I agree with Osh that the fundamental problem lies within AAU and NCAA. I know less about AAU system so I can't say much on that subject though.

its a fake education because college athletes don't have the time to pursue it and get the full benefits. they take online courses, and take African studies or communications and get pieces of paper but not actual education.

less than 1 pct of the ball players will make it to the nba. they need to value education and not always look as bball as the only meal ticket for their future. take your education more seriously. the school profits off these kids, but they need to get that degree

Going to college makes players more mature mentally

Think about all the things you learned about yourself during college?

you learn that by meeting different people, having different discussions and experiences on a college campus and classrooms, do you really think high level NBA prospects have the time for that?

No, they take online course, they go to study halls with tutors.

its a fake education.

It is up to the athletes to decide whether they want to get a fake or real education, then. You can take the easy route and ******** through every course until you bolt to NBA, or actually work hard for real benefits. I know they have less time to do so than normal students, but that's the payoff for getting athletic scholarship right? If athletes have time to go to a party and get drunk, they certainly have time to study as well.

DERRICK ROSE COULDN'T READ.

I'm sure he qualified for Memphis.

Giving them a fake education that they weren't qualified to get in the first place is silly.

On a different topic, Cavs snap their 4 game losing streak against Phoenix. Thank god! Although, I kinda think they should stop trying and turn tank mode, W still makes me happy.

Yes they do have time to do some of those things

dude its not a payoff if you don't have the time to get the actual benefits.

thats why its a fake education.

I assume you know much more about student athlete's life more than I do, because the college I went to did not have much in the atheltics department except lacrosse.

But, do they really have no time at all whatsoever to at least try studying? What about guys like Okafor or Hill who actually got good grades? Did they also ******** their way to get their grades? Just curious.

why not post this in the thread so its not just me in there

Hey I'm there quite often too. Just not as frequent as you though

Also I don't know how African American studies or Communications is a fake education?

It's really no worse than a student who takes a rigorous major but ends up in a job that's in a different field

at USC (Trojans) all the football players get graded differently or have the professors give them the test before hand etc. but they all take joke majors. the ones taking serious classes dont get help just tutoring through the athletic department.

Hayes himself has told me stories of teachers passing players off the pretense that they get a football to them signed by all of the players on the team. Most of the players don't even go to class, they chill in the lounge until practice and once the season is over, forget about it.

Clips with the turn ups :pimp: :pimp:
