If the Heat are going to bring in Melo, might as well try to get Kaman, Hinrich and Darko while they're at it. Then they'd have all of the top 10 picks in the 2003 NBA draft who are still in the league.

I miss the era when superstars were spread out evenly through out the league and would compete against each other every night instead of teaming up with each other and bullying their way to a championship.

wouldnt melo go back to 15 in mia

How does that still work with all the cap holds?

I mean if they renounce the rights to bosh, wade, and lbj, they lose bird rights, which means they can't go over the luxury tax to sign all those 4 players.

but then again.. they only have like 7 million on the books going forward if they all opt out.

holy hell they can

Imo, the NBA needs to invest more in the d league and adapt to baseball style of drafting.

If you declare out if HS, you're eligible for the draft. Teams can select you and put you in the league or NBDL.

if you want to go the one and done route, go to a JUCO for at least one year then become eligible.

If you go to a d1 school, you have to stay 3 years before becoming eligible.

I think it'll increase the overall talent in the league and make it more competitive as a whole. Even tanking teams can showcase their "farm system" to give people to look forward to.

Just a random thought after long weekend.

I like it.

Sorta like baseball no?

Having a good farm system would be awesome though.

If Melo actually moved to the Heat it would further my longstanding argument that the NBA needs to minimize the number of teams they have. The way I see it the NBA should have 8 eastern and 8 western teams, primarily cities like LA,NY, Chicago, Boston, Houston/Dallas, and then scatter a few other cities in there. We don't need all of these teams, the other guys that don't cut it can play in the D league or overseas but it would mean us watching competitive games night in and night out.

Shaq gets up out of the throne and pulls out a lighter and Mclemrore's contract, lights it on fire then drops the burning paper over Mclemore while he is withering in pain on the floor.

Hands down, would have been the highlight of All Star Weekend

The NBA is watered down because dudes are getting drafted after 1 year of college ball.

They need that farm system or something to that extent Do Work Son or 3 like the NFL.

Chill fam thats too much, the d-league is taking steps to becoming a farm system

But 2 years is probably the most they should be required to do, i still miss the straight outta high school guys

For every LeBron I'm sure there's a ton of Ndudi Ebi's.

I honestly believe adapting baseball's rules would be amazing for the NBA

Make it 3 years and watch how many top prospects flock overseas, cats like Derozan give no damn about college just there as a filler to make sure they get that good draft stock

Hence, declaring out of high school or going to juco.

Top talent will always get drafted no matter where they went to school and not enough players will leave overseas to make a difference

Europe over college is what im saying, when you need funds, and you cant declare for the draft till being 3 years removed highschool you pretty much just go

According to @stevekylerNBA Carmelo could join Miami if LeBron, Wade, Bosh & Melo all sign for $14 million. That is the Heat media's dream.
2:23 PM - 17 Feb 2014
Remember that the longer that you're in the league, the more money you get on your max contract.

So when Wade/Bron/Bosh all took 14 mil when they signed in MIA, that 14 mil wasn't too much less than the full max annual salary.

But now that they've been in the league for over 10+ years, 14 mil is a SIGNIFICANT pay cut, particularly for Bron & Bosh since Wade's value is low right now.

If you're a max/near-max player, teaming up with other max guys becomes less likely as you accumulate more years in the league.
