I don't think we're understanding each other.

Players would REGAIN the right to declare got the NBA draft straight out of high school. At which point they'd play at the NBA level or be assigned to the NBDL until the organization saw fit.

If Melo actually moved to the Heat it would further my longstanding argument that the NBA needs to minimize the number of teams they have. The way I see it the NBA should have 8 eastern and 8 western teams, primarily cities like LA,NY, Chicago, Boston, Houston/Dallas, and then scatter a few other cities in there. We don't need all of these teams, the other guys that don't cut it can play in the D league or overseas but it would mean us watching competitive games night in and night out.

:x

:smh:

Terrible idea is, terrible.

According to @stevekylerNBA Carmelo could join Miami if LeBron, Wade, Bosh & Melo all sign for $14 million. That is the Heat media's dream.
2:23 PM - 17 Feb 2014
Remember that the longer that you're in the league, the more money you get on your max contract.

So when Wade/Bron/Bosh all took 14 mil when they signed in MIA, that 14 mil wasn't too much less than the full max annual salary.

But now that they've been in the league for over 10+ years, 14 mil is a SIGNIFICANT pay cut, particularly for Bron & Bosh since Wade's value is low right now.

If you're a max/near-max player, teaming up with other max guys becomes less likely as you accumulate more years in the league.
Excellent post

Contraction especially to that degree would hurt the league. If that easy to happen so you know how many budding stars we probably would have never seen? No Goran Dragic, no Tony Parker, maybe even no James Harden? Teams would ever even need to scout that deep to find players like those because they'd have all the high ranked guys at at teams disposal.

Plus there there a just realized plenty of thriving "small market teams"

Teams just need to be moved.

Would be interested in hearing your reasoning other than posting emoticons .

The NBA is watered down because dudes are getting drafted after 1 year of college ball.

They need that farm system or something to that extent Do Work Son or 3 like the NFL.

Chill fam thats too much, the d-league is taking steps to becoming a farm system

But 2 years is probably the most they should be required to do, i still miss the straight outta high school guys

For every LeBron I'm sure there's a ton of Ndudi Ebi's.

I honestly believe adapting baseball'rules would be amazing for the NBA
And for every Tim Duncan there's a Wayne Simien.

The rule shouldn't have been instituted IMO.

Practicing against the best players in the world everyday > going up against college dudes. Iron sharpens iron.

If you can play, you'll stick around. If not, you'll be overseas. Doesn't matter how long u played college ball.

Interesting counterpoint. I think the baseball style gives you the best of both worlds. Those who are more ready can declare, those who aren't can go to college

playing for a quality college coach/team >>>>> anything the dleague will ever be

and if you're good enough to leave college to go to then nba then theres no reason to play in the dleague

this thread sometimes man :smh:

you all laughed at the thought of the big 3 in the first place. If you dont think Riley will at least try to pitch Melo on this idea, whether directly or through back channels, you are in denial.

theres plenty of talent in the league, a lot of teams just need new management/owners
yep and there's lots of space for new talent that's left lingering in the d league wondering if they're gonna get even 5 minutes playing time anywhere in the nba

too many old guards in the nba who need to retire already and open up spots for younger players

on them asking kobe about his 'mt rushmore' of 4 players...

i was born in concord, ma
was taught by parents about russell - watched bird first-hand...

he's not one of my favs, but Magic Johnson may be one of the top 4 or 5 of all time
he really had that magic - i've never seen a born winner like when i watched him play, like he had perfect karma...
...then the career was cut short (probably would have more rings if not)

don't mind sayin it
So we just not gonna acknowledge that Kobe didnt put MJ in his Mount Rushmore

I almost typed "Mouth Rushmore", yall can see where my minds at

To a degree I get what you are saying. However, like I mentioned there would still be a developmental league for players like Parker, Dragic, Hardin etc. as well as European leagues, if there was an injury etc. to an existing player than the team could promote a player or buy out their international contract. If that player flouirshes then they could provide a spot on the active roster. I know that still leaves room for some talent to slip through the cracks but playing in the NBA is about talent and chance, sometimes the best players don't always make it.

Kobe's bitter that hell never be considered greater than MJ.

*waits for the kobe Stan's in their boxing shoes and tight jeans to take the bullet for him*

And the Point of this obvious statement is?

I think people on nt have grown above the kobe vs mj arguement, since its just the same points rehashed over and over and over
