The ending of this had me

would have been better if it was Lin+Chandler shirtless, chasing each other while snapping towels

Yea Dwight is an amazing athlete, huge, agile, can run like a damn guard which is why i think he should be so much better offensively yet everyone thinks im a troll :rolleyes

I've said this a million times. Working with Hakeem could be one of the worst things Dwight ever did. He became so robotic doing that. No one will ever replicate Hakeems footwork. LeBron even had trouble implementing Hakeems arsenal into his game. He should've worked with Pat Ewing or watched film on Shaq.

Someone in this thread laid it out best as: it's like math. For hakeem, he could skip steps because he knew what he was doing throughout. Dwight has to write out each step and show all of his work.

It made sense to me at least

How does all of that suggest he should be better offensively?

Why not work on a sky hook?

if i was getting paid $10+ million a year

best believe id be in the gym every day/night working on a sky hook til it was perfected.

he would be unstoppable

he should have better offensive game for how well he moves all around, just MY opinion.

rather than trying hard to learn new moves (even if they are simple) dwight would be better off working to perfect the ones he already uses

his running hooks still brick off the backboard from time to time

He just needs to stop going away from the rim. Turn the sweeping hook into just laying it in from above the rim, and finish more moves with dunks in general.

You're acting like Dwight ain't work with Ewing every year while he was in Orlando though.

He just doesn't have the coordination/footwork to be a dominant post player.

Watch a McHale/Ewing/Dream/Duncan/Dirk play, then watch him and you'll see it.

He's worked with the first 3 guys I've named throughout his career and it just didn't come together.

Doesn't negate how great of a rebounder/defender he is

he's also been offered help by kareem and played alongside pau gasol

dwight has had access to A LOT of help when it comes to postmoves

I honestly think he just fell into this trap of thinking he needed to model his post game after hakeem. His simple moves work fine. All in all I've been pleased with his production

so whos to blame? IMO with the way dwight acts, its like he didnt put 100% into it or give a crap other than practice it with the coaches then forget about it when he got home

just my opinion on the subject, hes got/had all the tools to be an all time great

Actually makes a lot of sense, I like it.

Pretty much.

McHale has said though that Dwight lacks composure. He said that most of what he learns in practices are thrown out of the window in real games a lot because the defense reacts in ways that he's not comfortable with and then he just reverts back to what he's comfortable with. Free throws too

perfect analogy.

people just gotta accept that dwight is what he is. i don't see much more improvement from him.

Yep if you watch Dwight in practice, he looks like he has it all, fluid post moves and footwork, shoots 80% from the line and all that.

surprised they dont have league pass on free preview this week... usually they do it after every all star weekend

Why does Dwight HAVE to be better?

Elite defensive centerpiece with okay/good in the right system offense. Who gives a crap if he couldn't compete in the 90s era.. he played in this era. And Ewing doesn't get enough credit for Dwight's defensive impact. People talk about Dwight's lack of offensive development but don't give his coaches (Pat) credit for the defensive side.

I don't know what he does in practice or in his off time.. but people always assume if he "was more serious" he could perfect the sky hook or master Hakeem's post moves or somehow magically gain 70 pounds and be Shaq in the paint  Yeah.. maybe.. or maybe he'd never have the mental composure to perform those kind of moves in-game or have the fluidity to do elaborate fakes and spins or the shooting touch. Maybe what we saw from Dwight was the best we were ever going to get.. no matter how hard he tried.
