They should have kept him in, that's going to be the most significant moment of Melo's career.  For a winning player that would be like pulling him in the fourth quarter of the finals, game 7.

In all seriousness though, that's a poor move by Woody.  If Phil can leave a guy in to get a record, you should follow in his footsteps.

are you serious right now?

raptors were still in the game when Kobe got his 81, they were actually competing to win the game. This game was over in the second quarter.

Anyone who points out Melo having zero assists and/or downplays 62 points because of the opponent, also has sex through the hole in their boxers.

It was close into the fourth, but they pulled away bigtime midway into the quarter.  Phil left him in a few extra minutes to hit 80+.

That's my memory of it anyway.

The Lakers were down double digits in the second half until they pulled away in the last minute or two.

The Lakers were down 18 in the third quarter and up by 7 around 7 minutes to go. Bryant needed to stay in the game to seal the victory.

Bryant's 62 points in 3 quarters>81 point game

While extremely impressive in the modern day superstars, his performance doesn't sniff Kobes top scoring performances.
