Its not that tough rebuilding without draft picks. Just look at the Lakers and Heat.

Bargs, Tyson, and Amare all come off the books. We can sign a max. They are tradable next year because they're expiring. I'd keep Tyson.

I'd trade everyone (2015 pick, Shump, JR, felton, Jeremy Tyler, Amare) for Rondo or settle for Lowry.

Next year could be a wash but then we reload the following year. Just need one max guy at the 1 and then resign Bargs to a cheap deal since he's actually a decent player when used properly and we have a deep team. I hope Boozer gets amnestied and we put in a bid. He'd be a good fit at that price.

What players do we miss? We gave up Wilson Chandler, Ray Felton, Timofey Mozgov, and Gallinari. We got Carmelo, Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman. We gave up average players and received average players. When you break it down, we basically traded a 1st round and another pick for Carmelo. I can live with that.


Plus, Knicks had their best season last year since 92-93. We should have had a game 7 against Indiana last year but didn't handle that series like we could have. We beat Miami 3 games last year and were considered a bigger threat to Miami than Indiana.


Soooo yeah, the trade was fine.

Average to average?

Gallinari is a good player.  Chandler is a good player.  Felton is an average player.  Mozgov is, whatever.

Billups was amnestied.  Shelden Williams is NOT average, he is a non-rotation player.  Anthony Carter is NOT average, he is a non-rotation player.  Balkman is NOT average, he is a non-rotation player.

That's great, your best season was being beat by a better Indiana team who you had no chance of beating in a 7 game series.  And now you are stuck with this forever.

The Nuggets, like I said, had a better record than you, in a harder conference, with all the players you traded away.  And they have plenty of draft picks and cap space to boot....

Gallo is one of the worst defensive players I have seen. He is not missed and tore his knee up twice.

Chandler is the only one that was good and has been good but he's nothing special.

Felton is average, he's back.

Mozgov, Miss his size but he's not good.

Knicks couldn't risk losing Carmelo to another team. Trade didn't kill our team, our recent moves have killed our team. Giving Novak a ridiculous contract, trading for Bargnani, firing our GM two weeks before preseason, picking up Billups' option, Mike Woodson having a life affair with certain players.

We have no picks (except 2015) and Dolan will never move Melo unless Melo tells him he's leaving. You've got to work with what you have and right now this is all we have.

I don't know if that's fair. The Pacers have just as good of odds as anyone this year to win a title. George is their #1 option

If Anthony was switched out with George on the Pacers, I wouldn't feel as confident in their chances to win a title

I actually completely disagree. I think that team is perfectly built for Melo. Completely surrounded by defenders, rebounders, and a couple of shooters off the bench. Plus Lance, the greatest role player ever.

I dont think a PURELY defensive team can win it all. Not today at least.

I've heard the same arguments against melo as I did againt pul pierce. They are really really dumb. Give him Garnett and Allen and a good coach and he would win a ring too. Give him shaq in his prime or a super friends team he wins a chip.

Everyone has players they don't like, that's part of being a fan. My dislike of Melo is 100% related to the way he plays basketball.
