I'm not going there with the other player mentioned.
The social media thing isn't lost on me. It's a valid point, but the amount of scrutiny doesn't make what I said any less true. My point is every transcendent player that is generally regarded as being the best in their sport ALWAYS bring their fair share of irrational critics AND over the top **** riders. Gretzky, Crosby, Jordan, Bonds, etc. So regardless of what medium is being used to convey these feelings or how much compared to other guys...it's a fact of life in sports. You just have to deal with it.
Also...for every handful of overanalyzed piece of news relating to him, there are moments where he fuels that type of coverage and even benefits from it.
The fact that he invokes such strong emotion from people is great for the league as well.
So yeah...I'm not about to cry for ol' boy any time soon.
