Yea I always get a chuckle when people say lebron isn't skilled
laugh.gif
yeah its not like he's blake griffin

not srs

Just to put it into perspective to people who Andre Drummond, has more potential than Greg Oden:lol:

Greg Oden has 3 inches of standing reach on Drummond,

same level of athleticism, and he was about a million times better than Drummond was in college.

those things seem small, but at the center position, Greg was simply BIGGER in a VERY significant way.

Greg Oden plays the most valuble position in basketball, was one of the greatest high school prospects ever, had a ridiculously dominant freshman season, he was compared to BILL RUSSEL, the idea that people have rewritten history to make it seem like Kevin Durant was obviously better than him is insanely stupid.

Averages of 9.4 pts, 7.3 boards and 1.4 blocks over roughly 80 games made him really, really good? Seems pretty average when you compare it to other centers that were picked in the top 5 of the draft. Shaq averaged 23.4 and 13.9 as a rookie; Zo averaged 21 and 10.3. Dwight was at 12 and 10 coming right out of high school.

I'm not saying Oden wouldn't have been good. But I think if he was going to be a dominant force in the league, he would have done more to show it in his first couple years.

he did show it, his per game averages are depressed by injuries and fouling, look at his PER.

What Oden did against Noah and Horford at OSU made me a believer

GO was always coming off an injury anytime he played in the NBA. Remove that and allow him to get any rhythm?

Him and Bynum would have been top 10 in the league if not for injuries... without a doubt

if he is half as good as he was at ohio state he would still be a top 7 center in the league

And LeBron's game doesn't revolve around skill?

They're both highly skilled athletic freaks, LeBron is just better.

Lebron relies more on his athleticism

You don't know what you're talking about, but that's OK, because most people who talk about sports don't know what they're talking about either.

Also, this Oden slander is hilarious, dude had UNLIMITED potential.

ive been called a troll plenty of times but never seen a post get deleted unless it was offensive

:rolleyes

I remember oden put up numbers better than a lot of pg's either in lateral drills or sprints at the combine. But he did have injury concerns even back then so it's not a stretch if someone says they knew kd would be better

People were so hyped on Oden because he was a true 7 foot center with dominant potential. Especially in this weaker era of big men, had Greg stayed healthy he could have been a top center and the value of that position automatically puts you as a top 5 player. Just like a healthy Dwight a few years ago was considered one of the best in the league even with his limited offense.

The Oregonian has secured the official weights, measurements and testing results from the Orlando predraft camp, and wait until you get a load of the freak of nature called Greg Oden.
For starters, his numbers blow Kevin Durant out of the water.
There are several startling revelations in the numbers, and the one that immediately pops out is the bench press. Players were rated on how many times they could bench press 185 pounds. Oden didn't attempt the bench press in order to prevent an injury to his right wrist, which has recently recovered from injury.
But get this: Only one player was unable to bench press 185 even once - Kevin Durant.
There is more.
Oden is faster than Durant in the 3/4-court sprint, quicker in the lane-agility drill, and has better numbers in the running and standing vertical leaps. And, Oden has a mind-boggling 7.8 body-fat percentage ... most big men are north of the 12 percent range. For instance, other top-rated big men such as Washington's Spencer Hawes (13.0), Duke's Josh McRoberts (13.7) and Pitt's Aaron Gray (10.8) don't compare.
Let's get to the specifics.
Oden is 6-foot-11 without shoes, 7-feet with shoes.
He weighs 257 pounds.
His wingspan is 7 feet, 4.25 inches (fourth best in the draft). His standing reach is 9 feet, 4 inches (the highest of anyone in the draft). His standing vertical is 32 inches, his running vertical 34 inches.
The lane agility drill, where a player runs through cones alternating between running backward, sideways and forward, is 11.67 seconds. And his 3/4 court sprint was 3.27 seconds.
The thing that jumps out is Oden's speed and agility.
We all know Oregon's Aaron Brooks is fast. Brooks finished the 3/4 court sprint in 3.2 seconds. Oden was 3.27 seconds. Durant, meanwhile, finished in 3.45.
Oden's 11.67 in the agility drill speaks volumes to the footwork so many scouts rave about. Durant did the same drill in 12.33.
Durant's specifics are as follows:
Height: 6-foot-9 without shoes, 6-foot-10.25 with shoes. Weight: 215.
Wing span: 7-foot-4.75 (second longest in the draft - Maryland's Ekene Ibekwe is 7-6). Standing reach: 9-2.
Body fat: 6.6. Standing vertical jump: 26.0 inches; running vertical jump, 33.5 inches. Lane agility: 12.33 seconds and 3/4 court sprint, 3.45 seconds.
Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard declined to comment on the numbers, in part because he had just received them himself.
But really, there is no need for comment. The numbers speak volumes.

when was this? maybe i didnt see them

I honestly can see both arguments, Oden was the more lauded prospect across the board though.

the fact that he couls go 2 years without playing and play 6 amazing NBA minutes is evidence of his enourmous talent.

his BIGGEST mistake was bulking up to 275-280 after the first injury, he should have stayed at 255-260 like he was at ohio state. :smh:
