2013-2014 NBA Thread - IND @ WAS and OKC @ LAC on ESPN

Portland 16-4 at home but I'm tempted to pick the Nuggets tonight. Hoping Shaw is figuring it out as he goes despite his disdain for Faried, Fournier, Dre. I want more more minutes for the first two.

Let's see what legs the Blazers have coming off two disappointing losses to Houston and OKC. I like Dame and CJ.

nah man i gave you specifics, dont generalize my statement. WESTBROOK does not get assists predicated off facilitating. KD does, Bron does, CP3 does, I can go on and on.

Iverson DOES NOT, Tony Parker DOES NOT (he's gotten better though), Kobe DOES NOT, but he's shown the ability in a trolling fashion. its just mindset. ive literally never seen westbrook try to be a facilitator

Wot

How do PGs not get assists off of facilitating?

What the ****?

I'm dying reading this nonsense. Quite possibly the dumbest **** I've read in this thread...and that's saying something.

when lebron posts up (he does so more times per game than durant) he shoots a higher % than durant does when he posts up

meaning that if you put lebron in a post up situation 100 times and if you put KD in a post up situation 100 times, lebron will score more points

and probably lose

because of the aforementioned scenario i laid out. stats are what you make them out to be. i hate seeing "shoot higher %age" ever in the topic of what Bron can do better than KD . he does not "shoot" anything better. ever.

so when player A that doesnt support your argument gets assists its because of a plethora of other factors unrelated to the players playmaking ability

but when player B that does support your argument gets the same amount of assists does it its because he is a great playmaker

and anyone that disagrees doesnt know basketball/doesnt watch games
LeBron doesn't have to pass the ball to Kendrick Perkins though. He's passing to Birdman, who shot an incredible 81%fg last playoffs. You'd have a better chance getting an assist by trying to bounce the ball off of Kendrick Perkins into the basket. #semiserious LeBron is a better passer, seriously.
but westbrook passes to the exact same people KD does and he creates more assists per game than KD does

but because for some reason a conclusion was made that westbrook doesnt have a facilitating mindset while KD does means that kd is a better playmaker than westbrook despite westbrook creating more points per game off of assists for his team?

yeah i know thats not your argument but it may be the dumbest thing i have ever read, and there have been a lot of dumb things posted in this thread

you can e-flail around all you want, but im actually scratching my head on the need to lay this out after i just stated it multiple times.

if you come up the court and call for a pick and roll most of the time, then get an assists b/c everybody respects you attacking the rim....that IS NOT facilitating.

Just stop.

this season, granted westbrook has played in only 25 games to KD's 43, (according to nba stats)

KD averages less assists per game, passes per game, and points created by assists per game, for whatever that's worth.

their offense attributes more to that than anything. westbrook creates points by assits all predicated off him driving the ball, not facilitating
how do you get points off assists by driving the ball and NOT facilitating?

how do you get points off assists by driving the ball and NOT facilitating?

go watch early tony parker tape maybe? nothing i say is gonna make you understand it if the answer to this isnt obvious

edit* wait, i answered it in the same post you quoted fam . his assists are predicated off driving/attacking the rim. at some point people are going to realize you do it very well and converge. that's when you pass. that's when you get an assist. he's not hitting guys in spots for wide open shots like Lebron...or (now) KD :smokin

are you trying to tell me...when Russy breaks down his defender, and forces other defenders to help, then finds the open man for a shot...THAT IS NOT facilitating?

but when KD hits guys for the same open shots from posting and forcing double teams..THAT IS facilitating?

my head hurts

I think what he means is that Westbrook looks to score first, pass second. He gets assists basically because he's either going to get doubled in penetration or because the ball is forced out of his hands. It holds some weight to it, but Westbrook's been a smarter player since the 2012 finals and now he does attempt to facilitate. For the most part though he's right.

im gonna fall back off that topic. yall are just calling out dumb after im breaking down specifics. no counter just "dumbest thing ive read" i really dont respect your basketball opinions without any tangible commentary.

apparently steve nash is no longer a facilitator. nothing to see here folks.

facilitating is having everyone respect you, and instead of forcing shots, being able to find the open man and hurt the defense that way.

what the **** is a PG facilitating when he's looking to score first? facilitating his scoring? yall are laughable and its all making sense now that none of this is going over.

KD in regards to Lebron isn't the better playmaker, defender, post player, does not shoot as well from the field,....I mean, how is he the better player? Nothing really supports that notion.

Aside from being the better shooter, what does KD do so great that it makes him the better overall player than lebron? Srs question

i see what you're trying to get at, but your terrible use of terminology is why people thing you sound dumb. is russy a score first player? yes.

but are you trying to tell me durant is any less of a score first player?

russy breaking down a guy, getting in the paint, that gets guys open looks. that's facilitating in my eyes. getting someone else a basket they didn't really work to get is facilitating, IMO.

so if KD has an open lane off the pick and roll hes going to go through a mental checklist of

is perkins open? no

is thabo open? no

is jackson open? no

is lamb open? no

okay, NOW i can try to score
Carmelo Anthony Cursed at a Heckler at the End of the Knicks Loss to the 76ers Last Night
The Knicks  are struggling again. After starting off the new year hot, they've dropped five games in a row and are, once again, slipping in the Eastern Conference  standings. And Carmelo Anthony  is, as you would expect, not  happy about it. He's angry. He's confused. And he's also frustrated.

Anthony is apparently so frustrated that, last night, he let his emotions get the best of him. According to the New York Post, a heckler yelled, "Nice defense, Melo," at him in the final minutes of the Knicks' loss to the 76ers  at Madison Square Garden  last night. And Anthony responded by cursing at the fan.

"Go **** yourself," he said, according to an eyewitness who spoke to the Post.

That heckler later wrote, "Carmelo told me to F off. Huge Philly fan and I got in his head," on Twitter. But it appears as though that tweet has since been deleted because there's no sign of it on the social media site.

Anthony refused to address the heckling he received from fans after the game. But it's clear that the Knicks have to do something  to get back on the right track.

"As a team," he said after the game, "we got to stick together and not let anything come between us."

Haven't we heard this before, though? How much more losing can Knicks fans take?

facilitator is pretty straightforward terminology to me. like i said im falling back from this topic though. not going to waste my time with this argument, we just are analyzing in completely different lanes at some point

On a board where I've seen people call KD the next Rashard Lewis coming out of Texas...seriously argue that Russell Westbrook is better than KD...saying that Paul George was equal or better...and one person...actually saying that OJ Mayo would be better....I'll allow bonafide hustler's actions right now.

Keep on bonafide...I'm in your corner

in supporting him you just compared his ideas to every other idiotic idea posted on here regarding KD

no more facilitator questions folks. yall are lost on that topic. but ill let yall feel like im in the minority and keep it moving.

one last thing on the topic ...KD's assists havent really increased DRASTICALLY. like his assists as a stat. but with the ball in his hands, his facilitating has increased drastically.

perhaps he might be filling the void of the teams main facilitator being out?
