The same cat from last year. I can't remember his name. Should have been a tie, the two finalists were both flying :x

Naa that little dude was flying.. Every dunk he did, it look like he was gliding. Haven't seen that hang time since Jordan.

How the Pelicans not letting Pierre Jackson get burn?

They don't want to sign him because they are too deep at PG between Holiday, Roberts and Rivers. Not that Roberts or Rivers are world beaters, but I think they'll only sign Jackson when they get rid of those two or they'll trade Jackson.

What is Andre Drummonds ceiling? What all timer is a good comparison?
His ceiling wont be nearly as high as it should be until he learns how to shoot free throws. that is a significant issue.

A guy like Dwight maxed out at 13.3 FGA per game, because it became much more preferable to just foul him. If Drummond even starts to approach Dwight's effectiveness down low, he's going to get fouled even more, and he's well below Dwight's career average from the line.

Drummond could very well max out at 17-18 ppg

Man, New Orleans arena was actually kind of empty last night. Wouldn't even be an exagerration to say their whole club level had like maybe 8 people in it. I don't know if that was an expensive ticket or what, and then even in the uppers and certainly in the lowers there were some entire rows, a few whole sections in the uppers empty. Their food is :smokin though, and here's the biggest Dwight Howard you will ever see. I wondered why him and not kD or LeBron there then remembered, Adidas

Dude who said Jermaine O'Neal has no idea what he's talking about. Drummond's closest comparison right now is Dwight

If they sign him now, his NBA clock starts ticking and his contract will be over that much faster. From the Pelicans perspective, it's better to keep him on ice until next year since they don't really need him now.

It sucks for him because there are other teams that could use him right now (Wizards would love to have him for the end of season/playoffs, I could tell you that much) but the Pelicans are strategically leaving him in the D-league, and he's stuck playing for peanuts

Yea I was way off with that comparison to Oneal

I was trying to think of defensive minded centers of the past since that's what Drummond is, but completely overlooked Dwight. Not to mention, Drummond is probably not gonna be shooting jumpers like Oneal.

Yea Drummond = Dwight

he wont get you the blocks but he will def be better with rebound and possibly on offense since it seems like Dre is hungry and willing to learn anything he can. He 20 years old and only getting better. If he gets a good teacher/coach to teach him any offensive game... :x

Man.. Y'all watching the practice on TV?

Just saw Darryl Dawkins next Dwight, he had at least about an inch to 2 inches on him

Keep in mind, people said this about Dwight early on but his game remained pretty much the same throughout his career despite learning from Ewing, Kareem, Hakeem and Mchale.

People are really under estimating how good pre back injury Dwight was.

He was a top 3 player in the league, how is Drummond going to get their while shooting sub 50 percent from the line and being afraid to be fouled?

Re adjust your expectations of Drummond becuase as much as I love his game, being Dwight or even post back injury Dwight is a tall order and a lot of things would have to go right.

Exactly, and as much as people bash Dwight's post game he was actually a better offensive player than Drummond (at the same age). So it's far from guaranteed that Andre ever becomes anything special on offense. Especially when he's even worse from FT% than Dwight

He's a better rebounder than Dwight though. I think Drummond will peak at like 18ppg/15rbg or something around there. Which is still pretty beast but less than Dwight's peak which was 23/14 and MVP-caliber play

he didnt start working with people til late in his career, Dwight wasnt the type to want to learn when he first came to the league

its the truth

not saying Drummond will be an offensive monster or have any game just because you want to learn and someone teaches it to you, you cant exactly pick it up right away or easily.

get out of here with that

he was working with pat ewing since orlando, he turned himself from a 18 year old hig schooler to a top 3 player in the league, what you think it happened by accident?

of course dwight works hard.

I dont think Dwight learning earlier in his career would have made much of a difference because some times a player is what they are and they have a hard time changing/adjusting their game. He was a great player coming into the league and still is a great player but he would have been way better if he implemented all of the knowledge that was passed down to him.
