I dont even feel like he has to be a "second option" he just needs to play with someone who is a legit threat and can consistently play well enough where the defense has to send extra help sometimes. Put him on a team with someone like that he would flourish.

Where are Pippen was more defensive, Melo could bring that kind of support to a franchise as a 2nd option, only on the offensive end.

I was only using Pippen as an example because Melo could be the "Pippen" to another superstar on a franchise. (i.e - If he had gone to Cleveland to play with Bron or something in the past)
