Recent NBA history shows that if you want to win a title, then going for the most money isn't the best route to take.

Garnett on one end of the spectrum. Kobe's latest deal will become another example.

Then u have LeBron & Duncan at the other end of the spectrum

The number of max free agents that they can pursue has decreased because of his large contract. There is a reason why your fellow Laker fan Essential was less than pleased with the deal.
