Imagine if combined with their NBDL affiliate teams could have 30 players on their payroll? It would be more fluid with send ups/downs and you could actually have a "country for old men" that would attract some fans to the "D-League"... just think about being able to watch old stars play against future stars/former college stars in-person in the NBDL, at the fraction of the cost.. I wouldn't watch it on TV but I'd pay $20-30 to watch up close at a local gym

The D-League needs to actually become a proper minor league system. Multiple teams sharing a D-League roster is just dumb.

A player can improve his game and knowledge of the game by spending years in college. That alone will make them better prepared for the NBA. High school players should be allowed to go pro but the NBA as a form of entertainment has the right to say we don't want you. No one is forcing these kids to go to college. They all have the option to go pro overseas.

True, however elite HS prospects ala a KD, OJ, Greg Oden, D Rose, John Wall, etc. (just naming guys off the top of my head who were highly touted coming out of hs) aren't improving their game much by going to play on the college level. Guys like that do not need college. It simply isn't necessary for them IMO. I don't see how KD would have gotten any better playing another year of college.

I think players who aren't highly touted or aren't NBA caliber out of High school, their games will for sure improve by staying in college more. But there are prospects like the aforementioned who are ready for the NBA right out of High School, and so it becomes a thing where you have to question how does college benefit those elite guys?

From an entertainment standpoint, yes the NBA has the right to say "we don't want you" but what people fail to understand is most rookies are going to struggle regardless of how long they stay in college. You aren't going to get players ready to contribute in a big way right away unless they are elite prospects like the aforementioned.

d-league will eventually expand to 30 teams, 1 for each team.

its not popular or big enough for 30 teams. its not even a team oriented league IMO

im a big believer in the d-league and its getting big and bigger but it will take some time

Durant would definitely develop more in the NBA. I'm not doubting that. But wouldn't he be better on day 1 after one more year of college? I don't think that's debatable.

So you're saying a 20 year old KD entering year 2 of his NBA career after spending the last year practicing against the greatest players & teams & most sophisticated schemes on the planet would be an inferior NBA player compared to a 20 year old KD entering his rookie season after spending the last year beating up on college kids?

Perfect year for the Bulls to tank and grab a top 10 pick to pair with Rose, Butler, Melo, Gibson, Noah but they decided to go in a different direction :smh:

I tend to agree with you however you, and others on your side of the fence, seem to be forgetting that ALL these elite players would still be in college so they'd be improving themselves and those fringe NBA talents by virtue of still being around. I think as the system stands right now the NBA is much better at improving the skills you already have and college gives you a chance to improve those you don't just based on how the games are played. Making them stay is a win-win for any fan of basketball, HOWEVER I do understand your pov

Jrue Holiday is out for the season. Only played 34 games.

That Jrue for Nerlens and their 2014 1st rounder trade was so great  :pimp:

****. Still pissed we gave away vuc and harkless for nothing...AND Turner for $500,000.

^^^Can't totally fault the Sixers for that. YOLO Bynum was coming off a year where he looked like the 2nd best C in the league. Wasn't a totally unreasonable trade at the time.
