horrible money management on giannis' part

Worst feeling in the world. Train back home from Hoboken or NYC, all your money spent at the bars. Can't even pay a cab so you just walk 45-minutes home buzzed and disappointed.
I know this feel all too well. I wasnt even trying to deal with that on Saturday, definitely left my car in Newark and came back from NYC to Newark Penn and then drove home. It was crazy cold up there last week

I was in CT and AC. You check out LepreCon?
Nah I didnt but my boys went to Hoboken on Saturday they told me it was live down there.

You guys are ridiculous with this Melo talk again.

It's either NY or LA. Bulls isn't going to work out. I've already posted a thorough thread about why in the Bulls season thread and this thread months ago.

Read an article a few days ago about trade scenarios the Bulls could pursue to get Melo, here's some key points mentioned ..

"Chicago offers up Carlos Boozer, their first, Charlotte's first, and the 1st rounder from the Kings acquired as part of the Luol Deng trade for Carmelo Anthony. While none of the first round picks projects into a star player, New York is bereft of draft picks to build around if they get rid of Anthony, getting three firsts for him will allow the front office to hit the reset button and start building through the draft again."

What this leaves the Bulls

Player 2014 / 2015 salary

Derrick Rose $18,862,876
Carmelo Anthony $22,000,000
Joakim Noah $12,200,000
Taj Gibson $8,000,000
Mike Dunleavy Jr $3,326,235
Jimmy Butler $2,008,748
Tony Snell $1,472,400
Richard Hamilton buyout $333,334
Nikola Mirotic $5,000,000
Vet min x5 $4,576,215

Total $77,779,808
Projected Tax $76,000,000

"The Bulls are over the projected luxury tax line by almost two million dollars, probably not all that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. They could also potentially drop the minimum salary commitment by getting rookie 2nd rounders (I've slotted in 3rd year vet minimum players which is the amount any player going into his third year or longer would receive)."

Does this work? Is it possible?

Oh I misread the trade... Knicks probably won't. And if they did, they'll want picks plus assets (Mirotic, Taj), which they could trade for other picks or even younger talent. Boozer is pretty much useless to the Knicks, and they are looking at $91mil next year, they'd want to cut as much as possible from that.

Well damn, Matt Barnes --

Last thing on @Matt_Barnes22... He's a +91 in the #Clippers last 6 games... second in the @NBA to Blake Griffin (+94)

Being mentioned in trade rumors must have done something to him.

Boozer comes off their books along with Amare & Bargs .. "They'll be able to fill in the cheap type of role players that will allow them to build a talented team and still have some cap room available to make a big splash the next chance they get or possibly get their own star through one of their own picks later or a surprise player from one of these selections.

It's not a great offer, but it's probably better than what teams will typically get for a star who's leaving as a FA either way where there isn't a ton of leverage."

I doubt it happens but I wouldn't count the Bulls out just yet.

The Deng pick, what is it's value? It's not Cleveland's?

It's the Kings pick, top 12 protected this year and top 10 pprotected after that if I'm not mistaken.

Trade can no longer happen, since the deadline has passed and Melo will opt out before trades can officially begin this offseason. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the new CBA have some kind of rule that prohibits teams from engaging in sign and trades such as this one?

Even if the Knicks and Bulls can pull this trade off, the Knicks are getting the short end of the stick here. They're not getting lottery picks. Bulls and Bobcats are both Playoff teams. Kings is outside the lottery as well. I don't see the Knicks following through with this. Also, CAA would have something to do with this decision.

Again, it's either NY or LA. And I have a STRONG feeling that it won't be LA, because Melo and MDA don't get along. MDA wanted Melo traded when he was coaching the Knicks

Yea a lot of factors play in to make it happen.

"Prerequisites to a Melo trade

1: Melo had to tell New York he's not coming back and make them believe it.
2: Melo has to limit the destination to Chicago and one other team that can take him without New York's help in order to force New York to accept that he's leaving.
3: The Bulls have to outbid that other team.
4: The Knicks will have to be willing to stomach one year of Carlos Boozer
5: Melo has to ultimately choose the Bulls"

Fool's gold to me. And this is dangerous because he may start shooting a lot more because of this recent success

I'm happy that the clips are on a win streak, but I honestly feel like this isn't good. They are seriously unhealthy and Matt Barnes will return to earth in all likelihood. I just want them to get healthy man. Still confident in them, but would love to see them get healthy

Maybe part of the Melo to CHI trade includes Thibs to NY :nerd:

I still think he wants to stay in NY only because he wants to win in NY. Going to LA would be taking a step backwards.
