A lot of people. Of course, the city has some bandwagon fans, but the Grizz and Tigers are the only thing Memphians have in terms of sports. And believe it or not, Memphis is a huge basketball city. We have elite HS basketball programs and prospects coming out almost every year. When I was in high school, we had about 3-4 schools either in the top 25 or top 30.
Memphis just loves basketball and they love ugly basketball because that's how a lot of us grew up. It wasn't all glamour, but a lot of fouling, fights and you had to be tough. That's why fans hate the Clippers so much
And if Memphis wins, it is going to be because they are the better team. Does OKC have the two best players in the series? Yes, but you just start complaining about the lack of depth they have outside of those two players plus the coach. Guess what? Memphis has one of the deepest teams in the history of the franchise and are a lot more balanced than OKC. They have also established THEIR tempo in this series. If they end up winning this series, it will be because they are the better team.
Last year it was "Grizz won because OKC didn't have Westbrook".... this year IF they win, it'll be "Scott Brooks can't coach" or "It was Westbrook's fault". Make up your damn mind.
