I thought that hiring was Nash influenced.
Nope, it was Kobe. heard it straight from the mouth of a person who was on that team

While others on the team wanted Phil Jackson, and contrary to what the media might have portrayed, Phil wasn't exactly off the table as an option

I don't understand how dirk still competes at such a high level it looks lime his knee is gonna buckekle and collapse evertime he runs. He's looked like that for years even won a title like that it amazes me

Was just having a discussion with my friend about this.

Has basketball overtaken baseball for the #2 sport in America? I mean, I dont know the numbers behind it all, but espn recently on t.v. were discussing its plummeting popularity as a whole, and overall I feel as though no sport has benefitted from the social media boom as much as the NBA. The star power of the NBA is on full display right now, and in 20 years I do believe baseball will have faded significantly (if it hasn't already) and basketball will easily be the clear cut #2 sport in America. Its tailor made for this instant gratification generation. Baseball also doesnt appeal to pop culture at all, which is just magnified in this hyper social era that we exist in.

Its getting harder and harder, do me at least, to find people who are genuine baseball fans.

I believe it has and in all seriousness as much as people hated the big 3 coming together it actually made the sport much popular.

Baseball is changing also tho its becoming more a finesse type of game built around speed. Only out of shape guys are really 1st baseman and sometimes pitchers

Yeah they do, they are 3 elite defenders, I don't how you think NBA salaries structure work.

Tell me which player on a non rookie contract is going to give you what Andre does for less money?

Allen/Sefolosha both similar level perimete defenders getting paid less. Bogut and Green have a bigger impact on this GS defense than Iggy and they've both played more games. Lets see how much he helps them against the Clippers in the playoffs.

except for the whole elite defense ball handling and passing thing.

but sure not a great pick up.

Yea except he's not passing that well compared to how he has turnover percentage is higher.

Only + his perimeter d but he's not with 13 million, stop it.

You can get a secondary ball handler for a lot cheaper word to Jarrett Jack last year.
Finding an athletic, 6'7 do-it-all swingman like Iguodala in his prime (or just a bit past it) would be awfully difficult.

And the ones you find are awfully difficult to get for less than $13 million.

I get that but he's exiting his prime, he's 30 and his athleticism is already starting to fade, he's already not the defender or passer he was during his Philly days.

They were better off trying to get a Jimmy Butler type late in the draft than giving Iggy 13 mill per through his 30's.

Baseball is still popular because old, out of shape, unathletic dudes can still play it
The best players in the NBA today wouldn't be able to play in MLB though! MJ couldn't cut it in pro baseball
i was referring to baseball as a sport in general not the MLB.  Like it's a lot easier for people to go out and play baseball or be in a rec league than it is for basketball/football. Giving the sport more popularity among the general population

HOLY S.......
