Kwame Brown was the #1 pick out of high school. The scouts don't always get it right. Seems to be the case here if you're actually watching the kid play with your own two eyes all year.

Every game I see the kid play all his points are garbage baskets, breakaway dunks and free throws.

Tell us something we don't know

Nah I don't know if I would say Bust, but if he's a top 5 pick which he will be, then he won't live up to being a top 5 pick IMO

Hence "bust", waste of pick, did not live up to expectation, falls short..... All the same to me

Darko went #2 and 7 players drafted after him made at least one all star game.

All those scouts are lying. They'd pick Wiggins with the number 1 pick. Tryna downplay Wiggins in case they don't get the number 1 pick  so they can scoop him with the 2nd or 3rd

Kwame was no where near the consensus number one pick though. It took a late draft workout for Michael Jordan :smile:lol) to take him over Tyson Chandler.

I tend to think these consensus number one picks that come every five to six years pan out very well more times than not.

Just playing devils advocate here, but if youre averaging 16 pts just on garbage baskets, breakaway dunks, and FTs isnt that a good thing?

Once he furtehr develops a couple of go to moves and refines his offensive game can he not be great?

I don't think you could go wrong with any of em. But at this point I think Randle and Bari are safer picks. Crazy as it sounds. Randle and Parker just are just better right now.

What's even crazier is like one scout mentioned, Parker is bigger and stronger than most thought. The kid is legit 6'8" and 240+. Add to that he can shoot inside and out and you have a Dukie that I just can't hate on right now. :smh:

Rondo isn't a franchise changing dude. He can get the most out of a solid roster, but he can't elevate a subpar roster.
How you gonna say he cant elevate a subpar roster? Can the guy play with the team first
ska understands that the style of basketball that rondo plays doesnt lead to wins or elevate teammates
Ska knows no such thing.

No it isn't a good thing, considering he's a #1 Pick.

#1 picks are players you are supposed to be able to build around. They are in most cases, players that you can throw the ball to, and they can create plays for themselves and their teammates.

Wiggins at this point is nowhere near that as a player and that isn't something that all of a sudden develops. #1 picks who aren't bust show that potential even before they hit the NBA. I don't see it at all in him.

The Wiggins talk again:rolleyes

Dudes are just setting themselves up to have egg all over their faces. You could very well be right, but the 1,000s of people who do this for a living are basically unanimous on him.

I'm loving it, it's going to be hilarious when Wiggins is a star at the next level

Chandler probably going to resign to Houston for cheaper just because he can't handle being far from Lin

Kobe was picked at 13 because in 1996 the high school jump was not commonplace yet. KG opened that door fairly wide in 95 and Kobe & Jermaine O'Neal came thru it the following year but with less certainty than KG. GM's, owners, scouts still weren't sold on HS kids making the jump like that yet.

Today, that's not the case. If Kobe was comin up today, he'd have zero shot of getting out the top 3, hence, Wiggins and the other "1 and dones". I live in Oregon and have been hearin about Jabari Parker since his sophomore year in Chicago already. Wasn't like that in 1996.

The world knows much much more on scouting today than it did then. Way more ways to get info spread across the planet now than back then.

Yea in 96 the high school thing wasn't what it was now. Kg came the year before but kobe was also a guard coming out of high school and that was a big risk

All I'm sayin is whoever made that glorified college Corey Brewer comparison was on point with where his game is at this very point in time.

Maybe the kid learns how to dribble, do anything off the dribble, shoot, create spacing on the floor and use his length and athleticism on defense by March...but right now I ain't seeing it.

Kobe was 13 pick you honestly never know when your drafting

To piggyback on what CP said, technology and information about players has become so accessible and easily widespread that if Kobe was coming out of HS today, he would be a top 5 pick easily. Would have been a PR nightmare for whoever passed on him. Also since you brought him up in respect to wiggins, the difference is that Kobe coming to the league already had "All Pro Moves" (as Hubie said when he was drafted). He could play with the ball, very athletic, had size, and was just an overall extremely creative player with an array of offensive moves. Wiggins isn't even close to that.

Also factor in that Kobe was the first guard EVER taken out of High School. It was unheard of to jump from High School to the Pros. KG did it the year before, and that was the first player in almost 30 years to do so. And even with that in 96', had kobe decided to go to I wanna say NJ he would have went top 10 anyway.
