He's one of the greatest sports figures in this country and did movies if you weren't aware. I don't think he's jealous. This is another topic entirely, but Brown's generation of athletes and entertainers carried the torch and when it was time for Jordan, Magic, etc. to continue their work, they dropped it and let the flame die.

yeah i know, but its like when he was a superstar in his day he had to deal with tons of racial discrimination but its not like that anymore (not saying racism doesnt exist, just that people are not going to be racist towards superstars). Guys like kobe/mj/lebron have positive encouragement from every aspect of their lives, from family to community to fans to sponsors to teams, they didnt have to deal with the hardships that jim brown faced so naturally they are not going to feel as strong as he does about speaking out about these problems.

the fact that he said that kobe should not be part of the "black athlete summit" because he was raised in europe and therefore doesnt understand how to be a proper black guy is up there with one of the most ignorant statements i have ever heard from an athlete.

The point is the center position is a premium. D12 is far from gifted offensively, yet largely considered the best C in the game because of qualities Dre also possesses. Rebounding and defense.

There's not many offensively gifted centers like Drew Bynum with footwork and post moves.

Which is why I love DMC's ceiling.

I'd only take D12, DMC, and Marc Gasol over Dre right now in the current 2013 NBA season.

Thing with Dwight is, even coming out of HS he had way more offensive potential than Drummond did. Dwight actually could score in the post. It wasn't always pretty, but he used to rank pretty highly in post ups as recently as 2011-2012.

I just cant see Drummond turning into a number 1 option on a contender. Does not mean he's not valuable. I think he can become a better Version of what Tyson Chandler was with Dallas an NY.

You are severely misinformed if you think "racial discrimination" has anything to do with Jim Brown and his stance on social responsibility. It don't got **** to do with hardships from the past. It's about what's going on now.

No...they aren't obligated to be socially responsible but the guys that are...actually make a real difference that go beyond athletics. A guy like Etan Thomas has probably made more of a difference in a young black male's life more than Kobe ever has and that means something to many people.

Me neither. Its always kind of irked me that some people talk about the Knicks like they're in the same class as the Lakers and Celtics when it comes to "storied" NBA franchises, yet they only have 2 championships and have been bad more than they've been good since the 1970s.

New York always thinks it's more important than it actually is.

this is the same as the JayZ thread in general, people ignore the positive impacts that guys like kobe/jayz/lebron/jordan make because they're not doing things "the right way". People work their *** off to become professional basketball players not political activists. Im not going to sit around and be offended by how these superstar athletes spend their weekends. makes sense in terms of trade value but Ily can spread the floor which is something the other three guys cant

I think anyone who achieves a particular level of wealth, whether athletes, entertainers or businessmen, and regardless of race, SHOULD find some way to give back to the community. But I don't think anyone is OBLIGATED to do that, especially by taking any kind of political stance.

The fact that not all wealthy people chose to be active in charitable efforts is just more reason to admire those who are.

once he gets back and if he can play like he did last year then there's bound to be a team willing to take him

3 young defensive anchors with bright futures on the same bottom tier team is not a good look

cant build around those 3 guys and sharing playing time will only stunt their growth

John Henson is the odd man out. Seemingly under appreciated at UNC when JMM was getting hype and now in the NBA second to Sanders last season.

You can't trade Greek Freak. And nobody is taking on Sanders' contract.

true, kobe hosts a couple major charity events a year and does a lot for the city's homeless. I find that when someone calls a public figure out for not giving back to the community its often because the person is not giving back in a way that the accuser wants them to give back. Some people help the homeless, some people put effort in to help urban youth, some people help communities overseas, helping out is helping out people need to stop trying to dictate how charity should be done.

yup, and that article isnt saying that he's as good as pip its saying that his style draws a lot from pip's game. iggy is a guy that can fit into and would make any team better

Dre has the physical tools to be the best center/big man in the league. He's improved offensively at a fairly rapid pace. The defense and rebounding was already dominant and imposing.

I love Wall but he needs to continue improving his outside jumper. And Beard needs work on his offense.

The writer is obviously forecasting very optimistically and highly for Dre.

Greek Freak is well-rounded. Size, length, athleticism, bounce. Defends well already on the ball and with help D. Very raw offensively. Can shoot, just needs consistency. He's been called KD-lite.

I'm sorry i understand he's Young and i think he will be good but i hat when people make comparisons to a player and the player isn't good at doing what the comparison does naturally.

If he's raw on O and barely average why would you compare him to a guy who's probably the best scorer to emerge since Kobe..

Dre is going to be good too but Harden is already a top 10 player on playoff squads and proved he's a #1 option there is no explainable reason to put him dre ahead.
