Look at blake griffin go to work. Swear people underrate this guy.

But This is exactly why I would take Russ before CP3 To be honest.

Very unpopular opinion, but I really do feel that Russ is the best point in the NBA.
then you dont understand the point of a PG. Who does Westbrook make play better? THE BEST POINT GUARD'S JOB is to make everyone play better
the best _________'s job is to win the game

if westbrook puts his team in a position to win by scoring rather than passing when cp3 doesnt than he's the better player (i said if, i dont thing westbrook is better)

this true pg being the best kind of pg thing is a myth

Man his ability to score and make plays alone makes his teammates better. That's what people don't get. You don't have to be a pass first player to make players better. His ability to score and create brings attention to him that allows his teammates to flourish.

For all his "not making players better" he's still goes for 23 and 8 every night.

For the most part it's true though in a few senses.  Usually the PG is the smallest player on the floor.  The smaller player on the floor is going to be less efficient at getting quality shots.

AND the PG is the gateway for the ball to get to the big men, who usually shoot the highest percentage.

So if your PG is shooting every time and not distributing, you get a low efficiency offense and all the other guys look like crap.

The Thunder have a system that works for them, though.

In general if your point guard is a scorer you need to have a certain type of system to be a good team, and the ball still needs to get shared.

Teams where the little guy takes every shot just aren't going to be efficient offensively (see Chicago Bulls).

Personally I hate watching scoring point guards.  Guys like Steve Francis who chuck and chuck and waste the careers of their big men.  I love Westbrook, but that's an exception.  I also love the big PGs like GP and Chauncey who could post up and take advantage of mismatches, but they're not the same as these Iverson wannabes all over the place.

Russ is the best all around basketball player at the pg position, if cp3 could be a consistent scorer like russ then it wouldnt be a debate

did you not watch the playoffs last yr, or the first 2 games of the season? Ibaka going from most proficient mid range shooting in the entire NBA to 31% from the midrange not ring a bell? KD going from 50/40/90 to a low % volume shooter? Look ak KD's %s in the 2 games with Westbrook versus without.

More simple than shot creation, you can just look at %assisted of KD and IBaka last season

CP's size and athleticism doesn't allow him to consistently be a 23 to 25 ppg player the way Russ is unfortunately. That's why when people say "Chris Paul" needs to look for his shot more" I kind of gawk at it, because it isn't that easy. If he could, he probably would. A lot of times, (see tonight) it's hard for him to get up quality shots so as a result he can't get it up more. Then you have to take into account that he's the primary ball handler, and scoring from the three point and in is never easy, and at his size it's even harder. (Plus he's a great PG, so if a playoff team blitz him, then is scoring is going to take a big hit.)

OKC's offense is a completely two man game. It just happens they have two of the most talented offensive players in the league. It's a very unique system and wouldn't work in most situations.

well yeah i mean if its steve francis and hes bricking shots and losing games than of course. i just mean two players with equal skill, both put their teams in a position to win. no pure pass first PG since magic has lead his team to a championship so i really dont see what all the hype is about
