from harden to most of the "best pf in the league"s to 90% of all top PGs it seems like no one plays defense anymore
It's troubling man, Harden and Love are both considered the best at their position yet are doormats on D. Even Durant isn't as great of a defender as he should be, I think he'll continue to improve though.
kd is not the best defender but his 7ft reach makes it a lot easier to recover. people need to realize that the lebron/kobe/duncans of the world are great defenders (kobe when not guarding role players) and in order to get to that level guys like harden/love/kd need to actually work on their defense

i dont remember bron being mentioned as a top defender in his cavs days, was it pat riley that talked him into it?

Tonight's Bulls/Pacers game... bigger game for PG (first nationally televised game of the season) or bigger game for Luol (looking to get paid in the offseason)?

Its nothing new though. Magic, Bird and Barkley were all considered mediocre to bad on-ball defenders. Magic and Bird get credit for being good "team" defensive players though. Some guys really don't have the tools to be great, lock-down 1 on 1 defenders. Like Love, for example, isn't really big or quick, so it makes sense that he wouldn't be a great on-ball defensive player. But KD and Harden have enough athleticism that they can be better, if they make the commitment.

I wonder if the Bulls will try to move Deng midseason.

They need to do something, they don't have enough pieces to knock off Miami or Indy this season

bird was a better defender than most people give him credit for and magic was lucky in a sense that back then teams played inside out so there wasnt a 20 ppg pg every other night like there is today. no excuse for barkley though and i consider that to be one of the main reasons he never won anything (other than jordan of course). i think/hope doc is able to get blake defending better as well, he's not long enough to contest shots in the post in a 1v1 match up but with coaching on positioning he can at least become an above average defender

^^^ Blake's individual, on-ball defense still needs a lot of work, but he is improving defensively in other areas. He's pretty good at hedging and recovering on PNR and has been better this season about coming from the weakside to protect the basket. He also gets a pretty good number of steals for a PF.

You take harden or paul George to start your franchise ?
I can't start a franchise with a guy who can't get me 25+ ppg in the playoffs nor lockdown/slowdown the best player on the best team in the league (who plays SF).

Give me Harden.

barkley was a 6'4 6'5 pf, so i would give him a pass on defense because dude was a hell of a rebounder for his height

Who wins more games this season, lakers or raptors?

Cereal?

Raptors.

When I saw the Lakers starting line-up last night against my Mavs I  to myself...
Howard left these dudes in the cold, naked as hell.

:pimp:

I find it pretty funny how certain offensive players get "a pass" for their horrible defense, while others are ripped to shreds for their lack of D.

Nobody can lockdown Bron, its coaching/scheme on top of the personnel. and Bron himself.

PG can slow him down. He's probably top 5 of the best players to throw at Bron in the league.

If PG sustains his current offensive output though, he will surpass Harden. Big if, but Pacers only got better, and you can see the work PG is putting in on the offensive side of the ball. So hold on to your seats folks, this should be an interesting season.

It says more about the positions themselves. Wade and kobe are piling up the miles. Other than that the shooting guard depth isn't great. Boozer, bosh, griffin, dirk, Aldridge lee don't play any damn defense. Davis still too young to consider him the best. Duncan and kg are two years from retiring. Zbo is legit but I wouldn't take him over love

its too early to tell..But I'd still take Harden over PG all day.. If PG ends the season averaging over 20ppg, 6 rpg, 4 ast, 2 stl while being an elite defender then we can talk.
