Yall stay using championships as the only measure of "wining" in the NBA. Its not. Ron Harper has like 5 rings, was he the best point guard in the NBA during the 90s at ANY POINT?
Yes.

Robert Horry = Greatest PF of all time

CP can back me on this. (old man CP, not the one best PG in the NBA CP)

Ron Harper tho, what could have been

That acl tear killed his career. But at least he overcame his speech impediment and ended up having a long and pretty fulfilling career

CP3 wouldn't have won consistently with Tim mf'ing Duncan? C'mon man

And Tony Parker's stats aren't actually that great, he averages 6apg for his career and just 5apg in the playoffs *waits for excuses*

i agree though, have always said this about cp3. its not his fault that he cant and will never be able to carry a team to a championship or even the finals, its because of his size. guys his size (6 ft) just dont have the physical gifts to dominate and carry a team like the magics/jordans/kobes/lebrons/wades of the world. I would say that he has played to his max potential which can be said about very very few players and i have a lot of respect for him because of it. but at the end of the day when your best player and number one scoring option is 6 ft tall you're not going anywhere (look how he has problems with bigger guards like westbrook and prime deron).

people might bring up AI as a counter point but he was very lucky that the east was trash that year, shooting under 40% while taking 30 shots per game would never work vs real teams and he averaged that for the entire playoffs.

saying championships dont matter is a losers mentality, of course its easy to understand why karl malone is better than horry or that chris paul is better than derick fisher (only slightly though). but when comparing all time grates championships do matter. how many times have people said that guys like barkley and malone or steve nash would be top XX all time but he doesnt have a championship. the reason these guys play in the nba every year is to win a championship and to say that not achieving their primary goal doesnt mean anything is a pretty dumb statement. just look at how all time greats compare each other, shaq rubbed it in kobes face after winning one in miami, kobe took a shot at shaq after he got his 5th, MJ saying that he would take kobe over lebron because he has more chips (maybe take this with a grain of salt), when asked who was better bird or magic, larry bird says that he thinks magic is better only because he was able to win more championships. like it or not, championships do matter towards a players legacy and i cant put chris paul ahead of old zeke, oscar robertson, john stockton and jason kidd until he actually leads a team to the nba finals.

didnt include magic because there is 0 chance of cp3 ever passing magic

Extremely small sample size, but Rudy Gay is looking impressive as hell so far in Sacramento. Taking much better shots and actually making an effort to make plays for Others.

Regardless of the conditions, the fact still stands that A.I. did it though. You can't take that away from him. Even in those conditions, I don't think any other 6 footer in history could do what he did.

And Championships do not matter nearly as much when you are evaluating a player's greatness, or comparing two players. They aid a player sure, but they do not devalue a player's career because he didn't win.

what if sac town actually becomes one of those teams where overrated bums come and flourish?

would that mean that boogie is a great leader that knows how to get the most out of his teammates

I actually think that can happen. I have some faith in this Kings team to become competitive with the squad that they have right now. Just haven't verbalized it because if I do and they stink then...well yeah...

EDIT: I just did verbalize it

The Kings IMO have been relatively competitive for how ****** they are on paper...... But ya.. competitive doesn't exactly equate to W's

Kings are gonna be ok. I doubt they would've brought Gay in if Malone didn't find him to be useful. A lot of talent on that squad.

Derrick Williams is so weird. He's a much better shooter off a few dribbles rather than just catch and shoot

yeah, but its also hard to compare AI and CP3. CP3 could never do what AI did and AI could never do what CP3 does

funny how out of the two tiny guards its AI who lead his team to the finals and CP3 cant get out of the second round... paging @DarthSka

 not srs

i would say that for most all time greats who dont have championships not having a championship is the #1 knock on their careers. just look at malone/stockton/barkley/nash when making top 10 all time lists its always exclusively guys who have multiple titles while guys like barkley and malone are fighting for the title of "best player who has never won anything" its almost as if they are in a different league. When talking about legacies of all time greats the first thing that is brought up is always championships, its like when lebron win his first a few years ago, it was like "wow he finally won one, now we can start talking about his place among all time greats"

look at the way people treat melo on here, he puts up great stats every year but people ignore that and talk about his playoff record and how he's not good enough to lead a team to the finals. same with love, good player but not great since a great player should be able to lead his team to the playoffs. people on here were saying that they kind of agreed that cp3 is better than magic because he had a higher PER, then they turn around and bash melo even though he had the 4th highest PER in the league last year. if you're good then you will be able to put up amazing stats, if you're great then you will be able to carry your team to the playoffs, if you're an all time great then you will be able to carry your team to the finals/win championships.
