If PEDs were linked to a star athlete, which one would be the most devastating?

For those asking why PEDs are a big deal to people the biggest reason is record books in specific sports. If there are no sexy record numbers in a sport you will see the large majority of people not caring about PED use in that sport.

... did they even have PEDs back when Ali was doing his thing ? we gonna name Babe Ruth too ?

lot of good ones listed , but im surprised more people arent agreeing with whoever mentioned Phelps . that **** would be devastating

Got to go with Griffey gawd and Adrian Peterson

But honestly AD wouldn't even be "devastating" but his story last year was so amazing, and to have HGH to credit for it would suck

people saying Tiger as if Golf is a sport ....

GOLF IS NOT A SPORT CHILDREN !!!

Every era had its PEDs

Exactly. Just different kinds of PE's. Everyone's definition of it changes to suit their argument against/for players. We're in a time where PED's are looked at as more disturbing than actual cheating.

interesting . what kinds of substances were considered PEDs back in the 50s and 60s ?

Well for one, there is a contingent who believes Hank Aaron gets a pass with the greenies.

Anabolic steroids weren't banned/tested for in the Olympics until the 70's I believe (FDA approved it sometime in the late 50's I think). Amphetamine's were pretty blatant too back then. Look at the Tour de France cyclist who died during one of the stages. Guys looked at the soldiers who took it during WWII and it made it's way to the sports world in the 50's. That's just off the top of my head though.

Hell, MLB didn't ban steroids until the 90's  so I don't think anyone whether it be writers or us as fans has the right to take a stand and say "this is where we draw the line on where we start labeling guys as cheaters." There's been cheating in every era of sports. Ty Cobb stole the 4th most bases because shortstops refused to cover the bag with his sharpened spikes

"high athletic ability" try absolutely no athletic ability . it would be cool if I could measure any type of athleticism by looking at golf but no part of golf athletic . defense may be swinging the light *** club to hit a ball tht doesn't even weigh a pound . knock it off . MLB doesn't require high athletic ability . try running around four bases 90ft away from each other , running then diving to catch a ball in the outfield , or hitting a home run 400ft .

all you need need to play golf are steady hands , mental focus , and a pack mule to carry your **** around . I could say the same for a doctor but House wasn't no damn athlete .

I thought about this a little more.

Calvin Johnson's knee is hurt.

If he can take something legal or illegal to make it heal faster not only would I encourage it, I'd buy it and go pick it up.

sport - spôrt/
noun
1. an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

In my mind I see a huge difference between taking something to make your injured body heal faster, and taking PED's to just get bigger.

I got no issue with a guy who wants to heel an injury quicker, but do take issue with a guy who uses steroids for the competitive edge.

It's funny, I know a lot of people, specifically lawyers and law students, who are "prescribed" adderall to get through exams and work.  To me, there is no difference between what they are doing and what some of the juicing athletes are doing.

As far as player, I think Lebron would be the biggest in terms of a PR Nightmare.
