With so many teams attempting to "tank" for Andrew Wiggins and Aaron Gordon, a 50-win season is not out of the question if they stay relatively injury free. They haven't been healthy since Ricky Rubio tore his ACL in March of 2012. Ever since then, it seems like we're not MEANT to have success, so even when we bring together what looks like a talented roster on paper, injuries decide to factor in and dictate our fate. That should change this year. However, as we know, you can never plan for these things.

My record prediction: 51-31.

Don't follow basketball like I used to, but I'll always be a Wolves fan. Would love for them to stay healthy and make a playoff run

If healthy, I see the twolves grabbing that 7th/8th spot... Here's to a healthy and fun season twolves fans :smokin

If healthy, I think they get the 6th spot. Because IF completely healthy, that's where their talent level lies.

Making the playoffs and getting swept in the first round is all I ask :pimp:

I want the Clips first round. I want Pek to destroy DeAndre down low. I want Pek to wake up the next morning with bits of DeAndre in HIS STOOL!

That's where this happened.

Idk about 6th, SAS, OKC, LAC, GSW, HOU, MEM look poised for the 1-6 spots with DAL (healthy Dirk), MIN, POR, LAL (depending on Mamba), Pelicans (really like their chance on grabbing the 8th with Davismaking a huge leap) fighting for the 7and 8 spot..

Glen Taylor: Wolves will exercise Derrick Williams' 2014-2015 option

by Nate Sandell and Darren Wolfson
1500ESPN.com

Derrick Williams' $6.3 million option for 2014-15 will be exercised, Wolves owner Glen Taylor confirmed to 1500ESPN.com contributor Darren Wolfson.

Williams' future with the Minnesota Timberwolves has been a lingering storyline throughout the preseason. For now, at least one question surrounding Williams has been answered.

The former 2011 No. 2 overall draft pick is on tap to make just more than $5 million this season. His seven-figure raise next year will put the Wolves very close to the league's luxury tax.

After two inconsistent seasons, Williams is still searching for a role in coach Rick Adelman's system entering his critical third year with the Wolves.

Plugged in at power forward after Kevin Love was lost for the second half of last season, Williams showed the signs of potential that had NBA scouts impressed when Williams came out of the University of Arizona. In his past 46 starts, he averaged 14 points (43.3 percent shooting), 6.3 rebounds and shot 32 percent from beyond the arc.

Williams, who lost 20 pounds in the offseason, said he wants to build off his strong finish.

As the preseason has progressed, Adelman has shifted Williams between the small and power forward spots, trying to find the right fit.

Williams, the Wolves third-leading scorer in the preseason, started at small forward in place of Corey Brewer in an exhibition win Sunday against the Celtics. In 23 minutes, he played at both positions, logging five points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Personally, I don't exercise that option. From what I can tell from the small sample size I have of the preseason games so far, he still hasn't developed a post move.

Yeah all this does is tell me they have found DWill to have almost no trade value.

If that then is true, Wolves are stuck with egg on their face and know they can't just let the #2 pick walk three years later. So you gotta re-up him and just hope he can continue to improve.

Wolves drafting history and luck will eventually have a 30 for 30 series.

^ I've seen that mostly on NT and random spew from the Bill Simmons Trade Machine, but did you hear Jalen Rose say that he predicts....

1. Michael Jordan will come out of retirement and play for the Bobcats one game this season.
2. Once his contract is up, Kevin Durant will join Dwight Howard and former teammate James Harden in Houston.
3. Upon witnessing this shift of power, Russell Westbrook leaves the Thunder also, and joins the Lakers. AND finally, Kevin Love joins them, and they're both back in L.A. where it all started.

Lets just see if this MJ Return prediction comes true first. If so, Jalen Rose once again proves he knows random **** before it happens, and we have to hope that KD-Rockets domino doesn't fall

Today's news.

Lorenzo Brown and Othysus Jeffers wavied.
@JerryZgoda, Star Tribune.

The Wolves released veteran forward Othyus Jeffers and rookie Lorenzo Brown today.

They need to make at least one more roster move before Monday afternoon's deadline to submit their 15-man list to the NBA.

That leaves three guys left -- Robbie Hummel, A.J. Price and Chris Johnson -- for two remaining spots.

They'll keep Hummel and Price if they -- or rather owner Glen Taylor -- agree(s) to buy out Johnson's guaranteed $916,000 contract for this season to open up a second roster spot.

Jeffers was on a flight back home to Chicago this afternoon seated next to/near Strib's Wild beat Mike Russo, who tipped me off to Jeffers' release.
The Wolves also could officially announce today that they've picked up 2014-15 contract options on Derrick Williams and Ricky Rubio.

Wolves have waived Chris Johnson and are paying him that $916k. Adelman says Hummel & Price have played well enough to earn jobs.

Roster's set for the opener versus the Orlando Magic on Wednesday!

PG- Rubio, Barea, Price
SG- K.Martin, Shved, Shabazz
SF- Brewer, Budinger, Hummel
PF- Love, Williams, Cunningham
C- Pekovic, Dieng, Turiaf

Seems like they have about the perfect # at every position.

Adelman was asked if he's got a SF starter in mind for tomorrow' game. He said, laughing: "We'll have somebody."

Mark Remme ‏@MarkRemme
Adelman said SF decision is more about rotation thru game. Could rotate starters early on. Looking for right rotation start to finish.

Great start

Love - 31 PT, 17 REB, 4 AST
Rubio - 13 PT, 11 AST, 3 STL
Martin - 23 PT, 3 AST

Derrick Williams, Shabazz Muhammad, and Gorgui Dieng - 0 combined minutes :nerd:

^ Yeah. Sort of ironic that the guy Flip coveted was having iso plays drawn up for him while the two draft picks we actually ended up with sat and watched all 48 minutes.

Thunder come to town on Friday... with Durant, obviously no Russell Westbrook.

They put up 101 versus the Jazz in their opener, but KD didn't necessarily splash frequently from the field, going 9-24 from the field. Instead, over half of his points came at the line (22-24 on free throws). He shot eight more FTs than the entire Utah Jazz's starting lineup.

Keep him away from the line. Contest every shot, but don't lunge at him unless it's nonthreatening like a straight, up-and-down attempt.

Look at that roster, though. They're really not that good as it stands.... Russ is injured, Kevin Martin is on some other team I think, Serge Ibaka is your second best player which is certainly not good since it's not the 2011-12 season. Durant is going to have to do everything. And we've seen him do that before in the Target Center.

With the current framework of the Oklahoma City Thunder, we should win at home.
