The Minnesota Timberwolves Thread: Timberwolves, Anthony Bennett part ways

This organization :lol: You cannot make it up anymore :lol: :lol:

To rehash:

Saunders gets fired by Minnesota for players tuning him out
Saunders gets fired by Detroit
Saunders gets fired by Washington
Saunders gets brought back by Minnesota, buys ownership stake, names himself President
Saunders hires himself as Head Coach

You don't have to worry -- I am done.

There are going to be books written about Glen Taylor's time owning the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jackie MacMullan:

When Kevin Garnett does finally retire, he is expected to be offered a place in Minnesota's front office with an opportunity for part ownership.

That actually would be pretty tight :smokin and I know KG still spends time in the Twin Cities. :nerd:

Sidney Lowe is rumored to be joining Flip's staff which will be his FIFTH tenure on the Wolves bench. :lol:

@GottliebShow
Sources close to Flip Saunders say Flip Saunders will name Flip Saunders the head coach of the Wolves... Flip Saunders has no comment

@basketballtalk
I just want a press conference now where Flip Saunders only talks about Flip Saunders in the third person. That would be perfect.

@billsimmons
Flip Saunders is a head coach/team prez/part-owner??? Kudos to Glen Taylor - with Sterling gone, he's officially the NBA's worst owner. Wow.

.. what is the best possible thing we can get for Love at this point

Chances of him staying are slim to none.. Boston seems like the only viable option, Top 3 pick ain't looking too realistic.

Well forget you too then.

TWolve4Life!!!

:lol: Seriously though. I'll be miserable for as long as it takes.

This team

:rofl:

The only way the Wolves will ever win anything is getting lucky in the lottery during the right year

I don't know what to say anymore, I can't blame Love for wanting to leave, I'm upset, and I don't care all at the same time....

Frankly, Let him leave, as long as we get some pieces, we are still better off than we were when KG left, but that's not saying much

One of our most rumor filled off seasons and this thread is DEAD.

One of our most rumor filled off seasons and this thread is DEAD.

We're numb.

I've been listening to the rumors, but I feel like we were just here when this was going on with KG. Rumors come and go, so until there's a done deal then there's not much to talk about. We know he's gone.

Well said my friend, numb is probably the best word to describe the apathy around these parts.

I also think it has to do with the lack of interest in keeping Love, NOBODY I have talked to cares that he wants to leave, including myself.

So we go from a 40 win team to a 30 win team? As long as we are more fun to watch and play an uptempo system we'll be fine in a few years. We weren't winning anything with Love as our best player anyway.

Just get his @%^ out of town and to the East already. Lowe and Simmons were talking maybe this could be a Portland thing but I think Love has taken way too many shots and I think us fans are just okay with him leaving. He's good but not a great player.

He's NOT the LEADER we NEED!

The Bulls became the latest team to throw their hat in the ring as potential suitors in the Kevin Love sweepstakes.

According to Chad Ford of ESPN, via NBC Sports' Dan Feldman, Chicago has offered forward-center Taj Gibson, small forward Tony Snell and the Nos. 16 and 19 picks in this year's draft to Minnesota for a deal that would involve Love going to the Bulls.

I never liked that rumored deal either. It's all just bad. Right now it's a losing battle, but the hope is that Flip the coach doesn't outweigh Flip the President, because I think fooling themselves into thinking they're a playoff team with a so-so roster is armageddon for the franchise. Just take the L and suffer the consequences of taking even more steps/years back.

Yeah with Love we're what a 41 win team maybe? And with out him we might get to 30. We should just rebuild with Rubio and find some way to build around him if he can make any sort of jump.

To me the day Saunders announced himself as the new coach I knew the odds of us trading Love for future lotto picks and starting over was slim. With Flip's ego I figured there was no shot he was coming back to coach with a completely depleted roster and a rebuild - he doesn't want to come back to the sidelines and be dealing with a 25 win team. I still hope Flip the "president" does the right thing though and stocks picks, and we do not do a trade all to keep us hovering around .500 (max) with bloated contracts. Now if a player is Klay then that is a different story.

It's obvious by now most players do not want to come here, just like they do not want to come to Milwaukee and other markets. We aren't going to ever land a stud FA, and we are currently dealing with possibly acquiring a future AS guard (Klay) who would rather jump off a cliff right now then come to the Timberwolves. What all this means to me is if the Klay situation does not happen we just need to grab as many good looking lotto picks as possible and just keep trying.

And yes it's always amazing to me in the NBA where the trademarket is such that you often cannot offer an All NBA player and get any teams to give you any good current players in return. Then again in Love's situation we have this factor:

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly discussed a deal involving Kevin Love and the No. 1 pick in Thursday's draft, but talks died because Love wouldn't commit to re-signing after the trade, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Through Love's agent, Jeff Schwartz, Cleveland was warned that Love would opt out of his contract in 2015 and never consider the Cavaliers' offer of a long-term maximum contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
