Is Don Lemon the most influential Uncle Tom in the game right now?

The way YOU feel is the way many racist white people feel about every liberal TV personality. It's all about perspective,  some white people have the exact same complaints you do about the liberal media. They feel as though everything Anderson Cooper and John Stewart say takes shots at white people.
So there are none. Ok, point well taken.

Yes, on TV.

Thanks.
Hmm a white person may think this guy throws whites under the bus....repeatedly.

There is a large segment of this country that hates black people, but are angry at the way they are portrayed by the media especially by their own race. I guess you would have to be a poor white plumber from Alabama to get the analogy.

They think we're all stupid redneck, damn liberals.

LULZ, you wish. You have a white equivalent, your mentality also exists amongst a segment of white culture. You're not special.
What are you coming at me for?  Just because your faulty closet-racist mentality doesn't hold up in the face of logic doesn't mean you should start talking about what you think about me.

You know he's Jewish right? Also, you know this is political satire and it's not considered 'news' like a CNN. He pokes fun at politics, and last time I checked, most politicians are white.

Wait lemme get this straight, the problem isn't the message the problem is the fact that it's on TV?

It's like a man that beats his wife, then gets mad his son has been telling everyone about it.

Yall crack me up. Let's just keep in in-house, that'll change things.

He's also white....

But ok how about this guy

Or maybe it doesn't count cause he gay, kinda how that black guy don't count cause he's light skinned and clean cut?

These people also poke fun at racism perpetuated by whites, some white people wouldn't like that because it portrays whites in a negative light.

So if Lemon made political satire, you wouldn't be as mad?

Or are you just saying that for the sake of this argument.

I'm not mad at all, never heard of the guy til this thread. I already said there's nothing wrong with the message it's just how he conveys it, especially after the Zimmerman trail.

I'll agree to disagree that those guys you mentioned 'portray whites in a negative light', we already know that all media portrays black and brown people in a negative/stereotypical light.

To you, or me for that matter they don't portray whites in a negative light. To many whites they and the liberal represent "anti-white" ideals just like Don Lemon is an Uncle Tom. More importantly all these people who openly defend Obama are Uncle Bobs.

It bothers me that some of "us" love talking about "these" topics so out in the open. Some stuff isn't for all ears man

See that's the thing though, the majority of white ppl don't see themselves some group, there's no "us" among them unless we're breaking in to units based on ethnicity or religion, etc. Lets face it they'd much more identify with caste system based on income. Whereas many black ppl think there's an "us" due to the color of skin alone and carry that mentality based on things that have happened in the past.

there's an "us" among us because this country has created that "us" for us.

His talking point about sagging pants (totally silly) aside, I think much of what he said was right.

...

Why is he an Uncle Tom? Why do people use this term still?

Why don't people get chastised more when using the following: "acting white"?

You're Mexican so I don't expect you to understand. You won't catch me speaking about issues or certain type of characters in your culture/race

Edit: just funny how y'all love to bash black and claim to not ever wanna be one but y'all love to pretend to know everything about us....from Latino blacks to American blacks and to Africans...

And I agree with op except for the bill Cosby example...lemon has a history of it and it's shame a black gay is in his position to **** on black people consistently

And it's not a diss to gays but with few black men in these media positions it hurts that a sissified one is one of the chosen few....him and torre :smh:

I've never been a fan of Bill Cosby.... some of the things he's said in the past wasn't his place to speak on, but to call him an uncle tom is a huge reach.

"Sissified" huh, the constant hypocrisy and ignorance within the black community is one reason I sometimes find it difficult to empathize with them. Pretty sad really. They took this man, and basically projected everything they hate about other human beings on him including his sexual orientation or sissiness.

I didn't even know dude was gay i had to google it, now I know dudes in here is extra mad.

People gonna people. The plot thickens.

Why isn't it his place? Just curious? Out of all the celebs that go on rants about their views on the black experience *cough* kanye *cough* is he different or is his message different? Or do you just not think celebs don't have a place to speak on certain topics, then who does?

Any black man who has any type of solution or opinion on improving the black community that doesnt involve killing or outright blaming white folks is considered an Uncle Tom or "out of line".....on the internet

Meanwhile doing the complete opposite. I.e. rapping about destruction is perfectly ok. Im just watching tho

"pulling up your pants" is not a soultion its a way of entertaining white people.

"Pull up your pants" is something every elder in my neighborhood yelled at me growing up and i dont consider them uncle toms. Whether I listened to it or not i was smart enough to know that the chastising was coming from a good place.

I guess the problem is people hate when its put out in the public. "In front of white people". or like you said "entertaining white people"

Well if thats the case the irony is that you call him Uncle Tom because he's embarrassing you in front of white folks. But who are white folks to be embarrassed in front of? You putting them on a "not in front of massa" pedestal. So who's really the "Uncle Tom"?

Anyways, the truth is the truth. Other than making it personal about AP he said nothing wrong.

Some of the **** he said was nothing more than common sense anyway.

Refer to my analogy of the guy who beats his wife, then scolds his kid for talking about it to his friends. All you are saying is "I'm ashamed of black people, no one else needs to know about our negatives".
